Assigning Homework Is What I Do Best! Home Staging In New Hampshire

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

I assign homework on a regular basis, but I'm not a school teacher.

I'm a Home Stager...a consultant who advises people on the visual appearance of their home. Usually I work with people selling their home, who want it to show at it's best.  I also work with homeowners who want a new look or have a challenging floor plan or need help choosing paint colors.

When most people hear "home staging" they think of vacant properties that need to be furnished.

I specialize in owner occupied listings...homes for sale with people still living in them. I walk through the home with the owners and/or real estate agent and give advice on improving the visual and emotional appeal of each room.

I will make changes on the spot, whenever possible. For example,  furniture may be moved and decorative accessories may be rearranged and repurposed.

However, for the most part I give advice...telling the home owners what to do and how to do it.

I help my clients create a detailed "to do" list....a plan of action for transforming their home.

I refer to this list as the client's HOMEWORK.

After their homework is complete I usually revisit for a follow-up consult to make final adjustments and take photos.

How dramatic a transformation will be depends on how well the homeowners complete their homework assignment.

Very true Sharon. If the sellers don't cooperate, you can't get them the high price which is their objective. I think most people want to show their homes to their best advantage.

If it's not put out as "homework", which includes updates to ensure progress, it will not get done.

And so, as schoolwork, sometimes it's not as easy as others, but graduation is always a time for celebration.  Or, settlement.  Either works.

Sharon Tara "However, for the most part I give advice...telling the home owners what to do and how to do it...I refer to this list as the client's HOMEWORK." We do the same - requiring completed "Seller's Homework" before moving to the next step in the listing process.

How clever this is. A seller interested in getting a good return should take their homework assignment seriously.

Debbie Reynolds  I've been lucky to work with sellers who take it very seriously. I've had a couple that could not be reasoned with, but only a couple.
