July 4th Weekend Events in Sarasota and Bradenton

The month of July heats up here in the Sarasota/Bradenton area with plenty to do.  And the 4th of July weekend in Sarasota and Bradenton is HOT!  You won’t run out of things to do, the problem will be deciding which event to go to.  Good thing, this is a long holiday weekend.  Here are some highlighted events in Sarasota area for the July 4th holiday weekend.

July 1st

Grand Prix Festival Downtown Block Party in Sarasota

This weekend festival will start 6PM-11PM. Main Street & Lemon.  Get ready for fun with live bands, racing boats and meet some of the racing teams. This party, also referred to as the 'Boats on Main’ will be a blast. Free and open to the public. Sorry-there won't be a boat parade this year due to construction downtown.

Music on Main-Lakewood Ranch

This is a monthly event that is presented by Lakewood Ranch where area residents enjoy great food, wine and beer. As usual, the event will start at 6 pm and end at 9 pm and guests will be free to bring their leashed pets. There is a big parking lot for the attendees at the Lakewood Ranch Medical center for convenience.

July 2nd Events in Sarasota/Bradenton Area

Offshore Boat Races with Superstock and Aquax Races in Sarasota July 2nd & 3rd:  Get ready for some speed racing! With speeds reaching over 100 mph, this is some of the best boat racing, right here on the Suncoast. Best view for the boat races are from Lido Beach. There is also VIP viewing at Sandcastle Resort. The race starts at 10 am to 3 pm and is open to all members of the public and also include Powerboat Open Practice.

Stars and Stripes 5K and Family 1K Fun Run in Bradenton: Pirate City: 1701 27th St East, Bradenton. This festival is hosted by Bradenton Marauders and will start at 8 AM. You are encourage to wear red, white or blue for this event in spirit of Independence Day. There are also t-shirts for the guests, and the running event will be classed according to ages. The top male and female will be recognized with all the runners above the age of 21 years receiving a free beer as part of event sponsorship from Leinenkugel Brewing Company.  After the awards ceremony, there will be a post-race party.

Bradenton Marauders Baseball Event in Bradenton: McKechnie FieldThe game starts at 6.30pm, but the guests can take sit there as early as 4.30pm when the gates open at the McKechnie Field. Don’t forget to stay for the fireworks show, which is planned at the end of the game. The Gator Creek Band will be performing before the game, and there will be fun things for the kids, including a balloon artist. Guest will receive free t-shirts, and the kids will also have a great time at Kids Zone, where they can get their face painted.

July 4th Events in Sarasota and Bradenton

10th Annual Firecracker 5K Run-North Port: The event will take place at Morgan Family Community center, 6207 W. Price Blvd., North Port. Race time is 7:30 AM.  Entrance fee for early registration is $20 and $30 race day. The race is a well marked 3.1 mile, fast race with water stations along the route.

A Patriotic Spectacular in Sarasota:  First United Methodist Church: 104 S. Pineapple Ave. The event features Gloria Musicae and magnificent concert that is colored with choral fireworks.  Guests can get an advance ticket for $25 or pay $30 on the actual day of the concert. Students get a discount with IDs and pay $15.

Selby Gardens' All American Barbecue and Independence Day Celebration: 811 S. Palm Ave, Sarasota. 6PM-10PM  Are you in the mood for some good BBQ? Don’t miss Selby Gardens American Barbecue and Independence Day Celebration. 4 BBQ Pitt Masters will be offering the best of the best. Live music and fun things for the kids too! Finish off the evening with fireworks. Tickets are available for $30 for members and $35 for non-members.

Fireworks by the Bay of Sarasota: Island Park:  9PM is when the show will begin.  Bring your chairs and enjoy a wonderful view of fireworks over the bay. You will be able to see the fireworks from anywhere downtown, Bayfront Park and Island Park.

Fireworks over the Manatee River: Bradenton & Palmetto:  9 PM Hosted by the City of Palmetto, you can see the fireworks from both sides of the Manatee River and downtown Bradenton. Bring your chairs to the Manatee River Walk and enjoy the view.

South Venice Jetty and Fireworks Festival:  The fireworks event starts off after sunset, and they are viewable from anywhere along Venice Beach, or from a boat. You can also view the fireworks from Nokomis Beach and the surrounding waterways. The event is enjoyable and a great for all family members.

Siesta Key Fireworks:  This year will be its 26th annual event starts at 9 PM. The fireworks will be set off in the north of the volleyball courts.Good spots for viewing the fireworks will be anywhere south of the volleyball courts along Crescent Beach, by boat, as well as along the Intracoastal Waterway. Come early to get a good spot. Good weather can bring estimates of 20k-30k people for this fireworks event.

Anna Maria Island Fireworks:   30th Annual Sandbar Restaurant Fireworks Spectacular in Anna Maria IslandThe restaurant is at the North end of the Island next to Pine Avenue. This is a weather permitting event. The festive starts around 9 pm and also includes a VIP party. It is a great family event. There is nowhere better than the beach and fireworks!

Always promote safety with fireworks. Guys always like things that go "Bang!" but it's not worth getting injured.
