To Blog or to........

TO WHAT?

To do nothing but read all of your fabulous blogs !!! Smile

For a few weeks now, I've been hiding in blogger's lurkedom...waiting for the right moment to jump in with both feet !!!  I realize that there is no "good" time...the time has come !  It's sink or swim !  It's do or forever regret !

While working on my P2 website and blog, I've read your blogs to see what you have had to say about how to attract attention to your website- what to do and what NOT to do and the basics of blogging and blogging etiquette.  I have learned how to use HTML Code and discovered Glitter Graphics www.glitter-graphics.com .  You can see some of these images in the work that I've done so far.  I've read about the benefits of a "travelling office".  I've been encouraged by advice about how to get the most out of your website, unique methods used to generate leads and different ideas on how to grow your business relationship with the community.  Some topics have been quite serious while others have made me laugh. It has been quite the learning experience !

One thing I know for sure is that everytime I think I'm done working on my P2 site, I find new and exciting things to experiment with thanks to your wonderful posts and the wealth of information that they contain.

I can't continue though,  without expressing a much appreciatedto all who have contributed before me in order to make my plunge into these rough waters more bearable !!!

Now however, I've come to realize that it's time for me to write !!!  To write about my work as a Realtor, my community and my interests.

Once again, thank you.

We'll be talking again real soon !

Kimberly

Welcome to ActiveRain Kimberly. As I observe in your first post, you are on your way with a smashing start. You will find the community totally varied with talent in every category from those that specialize in tech or tech related posts, real estate specific posts, localism posts extraordinare ,inspirational, you name it, is here. You will be more than astounded by the number of friends that you will build that you can send and receive referrals to as well. Some will be friends for social reasons, others will be almost like mentors but in all ways you will benefit from the vast array of experience and experiences.

If I were giving advise, the first thing I would say is to think through the time and resources available and build to a level of consistency. Discover groups where you have an interest and join those groups, ( as easy as clicking the word "join" ). Subscribe to those that you wish to read, create associates of those you want to build professional friendships for business referral and these two categories are not mutually exclusive.

Welcome and I can ever help in some way to find away through the maze, I would be delighted to so. If you first post was an indicator, We will be communicating often. While I am adjusting both my subscriptions and associates , I will adding you to both of these groups.

Again, welcome.

Sincerely,
William

William- Thanks for your comments, etc, etc, etc.

Peg- Thanks for your comments, etc. etc. etc.

Mike- etc. etc. etc.

So, what made you finally 'jump in'? I've been reading about blogging for months...or longer. Yep, I've got a Point 2 website....just not the blogger-type. So what kind of advise is there out there for us 'non-blogger-type' of Realtors?

It's that little bubble on the top of my Point 2 site that keeps nagging at me "Create a Blog" -- is that the one?

To me, blogging is like small talk which is hard for some of us.

I just read somewhere today to start blogging by talking about all your listings. What do you all think about that one?

Guess I just need help on where to begin blogging....in my mind, no body really cares...but it seems to be the wave of the NOW (not the future) so help me out.

Lisa,

I jumped in because I believe it's important to create as many associates as possible as you never know when someone from somewhere will need your assistance.  Secondly, I believe that technology, mainly the internet is where buyers and sellers go first before even calling a salesperson.  My aim is to introduce myself to everyone who visits my webpage and make a positive impression so that when I meet them in person, it's like we've known each other for years.  Basically, to create a comfort level.  I read somewhere that 75% of sellers and buyers check out Salesperson's websites prior to making an appointment and under normal circumstances have already made up their mind to work with that Salesperson.  Capturing a portion of that 75% is important to me.

Small talk can be hard for many people, just keep practicing.  In the majority of cases I'm very comfortable with it but the odd situation does present it's challenges.  Work through them by continuing to practice.  While you're standing in the grocery line, just strike up a conversation with the person infront or behind of you.  It doesn't have to be a longwinded conversation, just a couple of lines.  After awhile, I guarantee, you'll get very comfortable and it'll become second nature.

I need a listing to blog about !!!  When I get one, the entire AR community will hear about it !!!  I'm all for it.  The reason I'm for it is because people from all over the map are looking for investments, and what better investment than in real estate.  You just never know and you never want to cut yourself short.

Wow !!! I'm sure that was longer than you expected !!!  Keep in touch and I'll be looking out for your first blog.

Thanks for your interest.

Kimberly

Kimberly,

I don't doubt anything you say at all......I KNOW that technology is #1 when it comes to buyers and sellers....I'm actually the one in my office of 20 agents who everyone comes to and depends on for technology....etc, etc,....but that being said....it's a mind set, personality thing that holds me back from blogging (here I am blogging and airing it on AR for all to read, right?).....It's the small talk thing.....Maybe I should visualize myself talking to one person rather than a world of persons out there...who might know more than I do, or have more to say than I do...does anyone really care what I have to say anyway...???

I'm going for the listing approach....maybe that will be my beginning.

Thanks for your reply.
