Have you heard, that the year is half way over?.....

Have you heard that the year is half way over? All the motivation Gurus are in full gear kicking up some tired old slogans. The question is “how are you doing”? My answer is please get out of my way, I am so busy. Needless to say I have been going nonstop all year, the results are just starting to show. For me it has nothing to do with the “coaches” it is all internal motivation!

What motivates you? I have all the trophies every year, year after year. It is exciting when we get recognized, but let’s be honest that wears of quickly. I have about pile of trophies from the previous company I worked for now I have a new pile from the present company and who knows how many other trophies from previous companies including the Military. Recognition is great but it does not need to be in my face.

Diane wanted me to hang them on the walls of my home office.  I told her no need, does not excite me to be staring at past successes I would rather have my mother’s and my grandfather’s art work hanging on the walls of my home office.

I know how many months are left of the year, I do not need a Motivation Guru to tell me that what I close in the next five months will determine my income for 2016. I work just as hard for my small transactions as for my big ones. Real Estate can be a juggling act when everything comes at you all at once.

BTW that is how I love it, when I have three or four properties in escrow and I am continuing negotiating with two or three others, that is when it is very enjoyable to me. Needless to say it is nice when all come together and I get a small breather.

I am motivated by the happy clients when they get what they want, that to me is so rewarding. The money and the Awards are just the byproduct for me. I love dealing with the personalities and the quirks of my clients. Most importantly I love helping them either purchase or sell their properties. That is where my reward comes in.

So with that said what motivates you? Is it the money? Is it the Trophy? Is it the recognition? Let us know here in the comments.

Endre,

My greatest motivation is a happy client too!  I'd put my debtors right behind them, but if I have enough happy clients, they don't mind being second.

Endre, There's no true one thing.  If I wasn't getting paid, I'd obviously stop doing this.  But it's so cool to help a client(s) reach a goal.  To be able to shorten the time a family spends apart because one spouse has already moved to their new job while the rest of the family stays here.  To help someone get from a rental to ownership is nice too.  This year is easily our best ever.  Right now assuming no glitches and I can finish all Pending transactions including the new construction by year end, I'll finish 33% above our best year ever.  Obviously there's still a lot of year left to add to those numbers, although likely that any further new construction deals will just add to next year's start and not this year's numbers.

And that means only six months until Christmas!  ;-)

Money has never been my motivation, but like Liz and Bill Spear say, if I weren't getting paid - and getting paid well - I would be doing something else.

With that said, I have always been self motivated, which is why this is such a great career - the sky's the limit!

Hi Endre - I could care less how much time is left in the year (except I'm looking forward to the end of the political BS). And I totally agree about motivation - you and I are on the same page about what's important.

Liz and Bill Spear  indeed a heart felt congratulation to your success and wishing you continued success, needless to say Money is important to pay for all my sins, wine, food taking care of the animal farm..., for me money is a byproduct not my motivation, just as getting Trophies is a byproduct. Endre

Endre, no doubt the money is needed to support all the furry critters living in our house!

Susan Haughton  we are in agreement, this is an opportunity to do as little or as much as we want, which in turn translates to money...
