Fourth Fireworks Frighten Furry Friends...Easy for you to say!
But seriously, please don't forget that your pets are terrified of fireworks this July 4th.
Each year in Marathon, Florida one of the highlight events of the summer, is the annual 4th of July fireworks and festivities at Sombrero Beach. Families begin the day with the patriotic parade at 10:30AM and then head to Sombrero Beach on Sombrero Beach Road at mile marker 50, oceanside.
This is a full day event with food, crafts and entertainment. The highlight are the fireworks at dark.
Many will view this spectacular event from their boats.
But, the first time we went we took our dogs and with the first bang my Pomeranian pup Zeke was off like a flash. Trying to call a dog in this noise is impossible and even just seeing and running through the crowds was a nightmare.
Thankfully we found Zeke, terrified, but under our van. How he found it I have no clue but thankfully he did.
It's probably best to leave your pets home for the 4th of July fireworks. Try confining them to a crate or the bathroom for some quiet and security. Maybe leave on the radio or TV to help drown out the sounds.
