Throwback Thursday: My Parents' First House

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty of California, Inc. CA DRE #01490977

My Parents' First House

22 Robins Lane, Berwyn, PA

I lived in this house in Daylesford Village (Berwyn, PA) for almost 9 years.

This is the original tear sheet from the MLS I discovered in a pile of family photos I have.

22 Robins Lane, Berwyn, PA tear sheet

I looked up the house and there is now a second story, with 2267 SF, and 4/2/2. The value per Trulia, compared to the $19,000 when my parents were selling, is $509,000.

Hi Sharon Altier, SFR

It WAS fun to see this. And I remember the house pretty well. Shocking to see what's been done with it

Jeff Dowler CRS I still drive by the homes where I grew up...and marvel and the changes and then lack of changes to the homes.  Always brings back great memories!

I have driven by some of my own homes, but never got back to this one even when visiting my parents two homes later. It would be a shock!

We bought our first house in San Carlos in 1972--for $31,750.00. Neighbors told us we overpaid. Today that house would sell for around $1,000,000.

Of course, we made 10K or 12K -- a year!

Jeff, Wow those are certainly family keepsakes. Thanks for showing us this information. Very cool that your parents first home still exists and is valued at a fairly high amount by Trulia.

Ahh so close to home.  I imagine that annual tax bill is just a little bit higher these days as well!

It's certainly a step-back in time. That's about a 25-fold increase in value

Ah, yes, I thought of that myself.  Thing is, there ARE some places where you can get a small house, or a cabin for this $

It's more interesting that back then people would make a  commitment on that 1 photo in the listing book.  A far cry from what needs to be done to promote a listing today

Very astute comment. Maybe easier then? Or maybe not. People didn't need to see all the photos of a house to decide to go see it. Of course they didn't have a choice, either.

Jeff that tear sheet is a keeper, and can you imagine the profit your parents would have made if they hung on to that property a few more years.

Hi Jeff -- I love this.  What a great find.  The phone number.  The brief description.  The taxes and heating cost.   The length of escrow desired.

Was it a relist? If not what is #8027 after the showing instructions?

Hi Michael Jacobs

Yes it would be my guess it is a relist. I don't recall as I was kinda young! LOL
