Cobb also offers higher and continuing education through Kennesaw State University, Southern Polytechnic State University, Life University, Shorter College, Chattahoochee Technical College and North Metro Technical College.
Housing in Cobb County meets a variety of needs. Cobb County has the lowest property tax rate in the metro Atlanta area. Taxes have been lowered for 10 years in a row. East Cobb is known for its affluent subdivisions, attracting many first time buyers due to their excellent value per square foot.
No Georgia community has invested more in transportation improvements during the past decade than Cobb. More than $960 million was spent on street improvements over nine years as the result of three voter-approved one percent special use sales tax programs for transportation. An aggressive road improvement program is continuing throughout the county, which is being paid for in cash. Cobb Community Transit (CCT) operates a fleet of 53 buses on 13 local and two express routes, carrying an average of 10,345 weekday passengers.
Historical sites are abundant throughout Cobb County. Marietta contains antebellum homes and five National Historic Register districts. Cobb also offers several recreational opportunities such as running, biking, fishing and picnicking in places such as the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area or Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Cobb is also the home to both Six Flags and White Water/American Adventures, where entertainment and fun are unbounded.
