 5 Ways to Stay Balanced in Your Real Estate Business


Summertime means hot days and a hot moving real estate market. With increased inventory, interest and a busy open house season, agents are constantly trying to find a balance between business and their personal lives. And when the market is hot like this, balance is truly hard or impossible to find. 


You want to figure out how to be successful in this market, while spending quality time with the people who matter most. To help you with this, here are five ways to leverage your time and balance your business to live the life you want:


  1. Systemize Your Workflow

How do you do each activity for your business? Do you do it the same way each time? Be consistent in your activities as this will help you create a streamlined, time-saving process.


For the tasks that don’t vary much, write a how-to manual and checklist for those activities. Follow that checklist every time and:

1) Nothing will slip through the cracks – allowing you to sleep through the night because you’ll know you aren’t forgetting anything.

2) You will reveal the unnecessary/time-sucking tasks and fix them, streamlining the process further.

3) You will show consistency and clarity to your clients – meaning more referrals for you!


Consistency is key for forming good habits and speed. Bonus: You can easily pass these tasks and their manuals to assistants and team members to further leverage your time.

  1. Schedule Your Time and Tasks

Schedule your to-dos in a calendar and don’t look ahead! Focus on today’s tasks and stop worrying about the next steps until they come up on your calendar. Nowadays, we use many different methods of communicating, such as social media, emailing, calling and texting, to name a few. Spend some time organizing how, when and where you manage these communications.


Create templates for those emails you send out during every transaction. Use them in your CRM and save yourself some typing time.


Use a calendar or task manager to schedule your touches – when you should call, send a text or post something on social media. Using sites like Brivity, Hootsuite and even Google Calendar, you can set reminders for these types of communication; some can even create ready-to-go templates and automatic send-outs.


Automating your social media and your “often-used” scripts frees your time to reply to custom communication and new prospects. Automation cuts down the mass amounts of communication needed to a more manageable amount.

I think you can try and 'stay balanced' but there are days when that is darn near impossible...some crisis pops up and your entire day has to be reorganized. DO take advantage of down time!
