Strange Encounters while Viewing Homes...
or maybe I should entitle it "What not to do when staging your home for sale" but since I am a Realtor and not a home stager, I will leave that headline to use by the professionals.
Have you had any weird encounters while showing houses or if you are a buyer, have you encountered some things while viewing homes that left you wondering?
My buyer and I had one today and we were not too sure what it all means. We were looking at a vintage home for sale in Brooksville, Florida that had been built 115 years ago. No telling, what those walls had seen and heard over the years!
As we were walking through the rooms, floor boards squeaking under our steps, we came upon a single black (albeit plastic) rose placed in the middle of the floor in one of the rooms.
There are many vintage homes in the city of Brooksville, Florida. Some of them are even said to have a ghost! Most notably, the historic May-Stringer House in Brooksville which serves as a museum with over 11,000 local artifacts and... a ghost! They even conduct ghost tours and not just for Halloween. If you are interested in more information about the May-Stringer House, you will find it in a previous blog post about Historic Brooksville, Florida.
But that's for the tourists and visitors. Today, my buyer and I were looking for a home for her and her family to live in that was uninhabitated by people or ghosts.
And while neither one of us are superstititious, frankly, this type of "decor" was a bit creepy. Needless to say, this home was eliminated from the search list quickly.
I did let the listing agent know about the rather unususal staging in this home - apparently, he had never noticed it before!
