This story about my biggest social media success is one of those true but stranger than fiction stories and the old game of the 6 degrees of separation has been whittled down considerably by using the web to connect and this is a one degree story about marketing Oklahoma City real estate. Over the last three years I have been shifting my online marketing to video to capture real estate investors by doing talking head video to explain market conditions, investment calculations and what they mean, and the whys of investing in real estate for long term wealth building. I am a 100% investment specialist and I only want to deal with those who comment to multiple purchases and I don't work with the flippers. After 27 years of success at doing this I can leverage my reputation and work with serial investors only. I am now up to about 500 videos on YouTube and other social media channels, but one story really stands out as my greatest success and I even find it hard to believe that it happened.
About two years ago I got a call from an investor who lived in San Francisco. Since the majority of my investors are from California I assumed that I had met him at one of the seminars I do out there but that was not the case and this is how the phone conversation went. Hello, is this Joe Pryor the real estate investment specialist? Yes, that is me and how can I help? I just sold my IT company in San Jose and I am consultant in San Francisco and I want to invest in Oklahoma City real estate. I said that is terrific, and anyone who sold an IT company I want to be involved with, so I said how did you find me? I saw you on YouTube and I have seen all of your investment videos and I have done research on the Oklahoma City market and it is where I want to invest. I answered that I thought he was making the right decision and although 74% of my investors never come and see what they are buying I think it is good to visit the city you are putting your money in, and this is where it got fascinating.
Bill said that he planned to be in Oklahoma City in two weeks so could we meet? I said of course I will give you all the time that you need but why did you decide to come? He said he was originally from Ardmore Oklahoma and was going to visit his parents who were not in good health. I said Ardmore, that is a place I go all the time to visit my brother and go fishing on Lake Texoma. The came the punchline, funny thing about your last name, the person in high school that taught me computer programming was named Pryor. I replied, funny thing, that is my brother. My brother got him on the road to success and he had not connected the dots about this one degree of separation. The moral to the story is we are all connected because of the web and we are not far off from a connection so it is important that we put our content that connects and we should always consider that our online reputation is crucial which means don't tell other people what to think or do because it is your truth, find something that connects and shares a truth that combines together a creates action that is positive. Give your public something of value that creates more than an intellectual connection, it also needs to be visceral, and remember the separation is small, but the connection is large.
The financial moral to the story is Bill and his girlfriend have bought 20 investment homes and more coming.
