We had a nice day.  It was Erin's birthday.  She is two.

What better way to spend a day than at the zoo.

We got on the road early for us, about 9:30 this morning.

First I had to take care of the coffee, the paper, and several real estate related/blogging type activities.

Traffic was no problem as we headed east on Interstate 290 headed for First Avenue..  Ahh, the memories...

Lots of history for me at the Brookfield Zoo.  My mom used to love taking us there.

I have gone all my life.  Much has changed.  New exhibits.  New animals.

Ziggy the elephant is no longer there...

But so much is still the same.  The feel of the zoo.  The smells.  The same carousel.

Erin rode the carousel today.  Her mom held her on a zebra.

We had a nice day.

Sounds like a great day and a great place. We have a zoo here in Houston...we need to visit with our six year old.

My children think they are too old to visit the zoo now with their parents.  Enjoy the time while they want to be around.

Hi Team and John.  Thanks for stopping by.

We were lucky with the weather too.  It was beautiful.

No money is better spent than a membership to the zoo if you have children.  I think the HOUSTON Zoo is like $80 a year or something for a family.  We can go anytime we want, even for an hour or two and not feel like we didn't get our money worth (short visits certainly work better with small children like my near two year old).  In addition, they have reciprocation with zoos all over the country that if you happen to be somewhere else you can visit their zoo too for free (we were in El Paso last March and went to the El Paso zoo then, but there are TONS of other reciprocal zoos around the country!

Ken...nice post.  I really love Brookfield.  I have 5 kids that I'll take there this summer.  Thanks for the motivation.

Hi Ron and Larry.  It was a very nice day for all of us.

Go to the zoo.  It was my daughters first time really seeing animals that she reads about.

Thanks for stopping by,

Ken
