I received my latest copy of Style at Home Magazine Special Issue on High/Low . Throughout the colourful pages are beautifully designed rooms. However the one to sit up and take note of is the High – Low photo spread on page 42 - 43.
The concept of the photo shoot was to design two identical rooms at opposite ends of the financial spectrum. In this issue the editor chose a living room as the latest challenge. The first room was designed at a cost of $22,178 and includes designer couches, silk draperies, a Bhutan wool rug and high end decor items. The second room was designed on a modest budget of $4777. The looks are identical yet the second is much more attractive to the average homeowner and their pocket book.
The concept of high/low can also be considered when Staging a Property. There is no need to spend thousands of dollars to update your property. A Professionally Trained Consultant knows how to arrange the furniture chose an appropriate colour palette and dress your home to look like a “million dollars “.
When dk design studio prepares your home for sale, we not only take into consideration your budget, we also consider the future homeowner. How would they like to live? What’s their lifestyle? Young urbanites love Ikea. Need an updated bathroom? Ikea offers several trendy new taps, and sinks that are quite appealing and are a fraction of the cost if you were to buy similar taps from Kohler or American Standard. The final outcome is a happy homeowner and an excited new homeowner.
Bringing a new look into a home on a budget can be done. With a little thrifty shopping and knowing how to pull it all together your home could be the feature of high/low but only you need know what side of the scale your home was designed on!
Happy Shopping...
