Farmington Area Fun Walk: For Meals and Wheels                                                                                                       Everybody grab your tennis shoes and a family member and join the fun!  The City of Farmington Hills Senior Division will host the Fifth Annual Fun Walk on Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. in beautiful Heritage Park located on Farmington Road between Ten and Eleven Mile.

Proceeds from this year's walk will provide Meals-On-Wheels and Transportation Services to Farmington and Farmington Hills seniors in need. Your involvement will allow the City to successfully continue to provide over 100 rides weekly to seniors who are in need of transportation.  Our Meals-on-Wheels program will also be able to successfully deliver hot nutritious meals to homebound seniors in the community.

Arson Awareness Week in Michigan,May 4 - 10, 2008,By Lieutenant Denny Hughes, Farmington Hills Fire Department

Citizens in Farmington Hills Michigan and communities all over the State of Michigan can help fight back against a crime that costs millions of dollars each year. A statewide program administered by the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee (MAPC) will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of arsonists.

Arson is a problem everywhere, including in Michigan . Approximately one out of every five fires reported in Michigan is an arson fire or is suspicious, according to Lieutenant Denny Hughes of the Farmington Hills Fire Department.  Arson fires in Michigan cause many deaths and countless injuries, as well as costing residents millions of dollars each year. In 2007, Michigan taxpayers paid out about $220 million in arson losses.

To report an arsonist or a suspicious fire, please contact the Farmington Hills Fire Department at 248-871-2800.
