Can what I don't know hurt me?? Or should I just keep bloggin' on??

I am in a pickle

I am new to AR and blogging in general.  Blogging is a new word to me ... never mind all these other "Greek" words I am learning!  The more I read, the more I realize how little I know.  It is just overwhelming :(

I guess my question is, after you learn a bunch of this stuff, can you go back and fixed your "messed up" newbie blogs?

Does any one have a mental list of things that absolutely should be done with each and every blog?  Like tags, etc.

AS A SIDE NOTE:  I do know how to add clip art and links into my blogs.  I am working on an Apple laptop at my cousin's.  You can't even left click to copy and paste on this crazy thing .... or I'd put a link to one of my fancierblogs!  How do people use these??

Don't worry, you should keep blogging... Blogging is a very organic way of writing on the web... it is not polished, per se... So you will find your style and voice as you keep practicing. You will also find ways to incorporate what you've learned from other blogs as you progress. But as you feel lead to do it-- you can update previous posts through the edit feature. Happy blogging and keep it up!

Howdy Jennifer

I wanted to stop by to visit, and subscribe to your blog, and thank ya for visiting my friend Carl's blog post to give a congrats to me.

This ol cowboy also did not know the word blogging until last June. Had never read one before then. I have learned so much from many of the very fine blogger's in this here community, and have goten to make a lot of very good friend's along the learning trail.Learning trail  I have always liked learning something new each and every day. The one thing that I can tell ya, and thats to write about anuthing you know. To always write from your heart and soul. There will be time's that some will not like what you may write about. Don't let them get ya down about over it. Just give them a thank you for stopping by. A blogging community is just like a real community that folk's live in, you'll have more good neighbor's than bad ones. Just be sure to have lots of fun.

As Keishia said if you ever feel you need or want to update any post you have written ues the edit feature to do so.

If there is ever anything that I can give ya helpping hand with just let me know, and if I don't know how to do it, I am sure I know someone that dose.

Have a good one Dale

You can click on the edit button to fix your posts. It shows up near the title. Don't worry about your posts in general... over time you'll find what works best for you. Blogging's definitely a "learn by doing" thing.

Aloha and welcome to AR Jennifer....

I too am a newbie to AR and if it were not for my son's help and encouragement, I'd have gotten myself a huge umbrella and stopped dancing & singing in the rain altogether.

Wow Jennifer to go back and fix up your old blogs you are a true professional. I would just leave them as is and move forward with your next best effort. You as the blog owner always have the power to edit. It is your blog.

Chuck - I have seen your name on a few of my blogs.  Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

Kehaulani - I am so glad you have the support of your family.  Thanks for commenting.

Gary - Okay, that one made me chuckle!  Can people even tell from my blogs that I am anal retentive????  Sad part is, once I know more, I WILL go fix them.

Thanks everyone!!! JENNIFER

Jennifer,

I saw yourpost to a blog for the Lancaster AR'ers who gathered.....

I am an original Pittsburgh'er transplanted to Philly.

Having Armstrong County to your self keeps you with the leg up on the competition.......yet there has to be a way to increase the presence for you and the area.....I wish you luck.

Dan - I am working on trying to make my presence better known in Armstrong County.  I am going to start writing some blogs on it. Thanks for the insight!! JENNIFER

Jennifer, Things will keep changing with blogging so even if we have a mental list, that will change also. One thing with tags...When I first started, I tagged whatever I felt like. Yes, you can update and edit your blogs to change tags, but after 100 blogs, it's a time consuming thing!  I have never gotten around to it and I have way too many tags. Start thinking about what you want your tags to be and use them over and over.

As someone else mentioned, there is always the edit button!

Good point Karen - I know some folks have lists that go on forever.  I don't know if that is a good or bad thing, but I guess sticking with a certain number of them is wise.

Jennifer, the list of groups just sort of grows over time. You can post to up to five groups at a time. Some are more active than others... also each group has its own rules and interests. Soon you'll find which groups cater to your interests. You're off to a great start.

I recently cleaned up the closing ad at the end of each of my blogs. I know some people hate the ads...but when blogs syndicate out into the internet via localism, a blog becomes a miniature website in my opinion.

Simple to do, go to your blogs, find one, click edit, do whatever and save. Same with the tags. Before you clean up your tags, go search for blogs on AR that mention long tail key words. Read them. Then make your changes.

All the best, Vickie

Jennifer, Welcome to ActiveRain first of all....and I confess that I have went back and edited a couple of my posts. The main thing is to just keep blogging.

Hi Chuck!  As always, thanks for your insight.  And for the encouragement!

<>Vickie - I have long tail key words on my list of items I need to research.  thanks for the great advice!  What do you mean by the closing ad at the end of each blog?

Lori - Didn't know you could edit comments!  Yes, that picture of me is pretty accurate.  I am pretty laid back and love my cats!  Thanks so much!  JENNIFER

Jennifer - I am just learning, too.  I have gone back to relevant posts and 'fixed' them, especially to use tag keywords in the title, and bold or italicize them in the text - it does help with Google.  Good luck, if you need any help, just send me an email.
