West of the Trail? Where is that? 

US41, also called Tamiami Trail, runs from north to south through Sarasota. Actually, it starts in Tam(pa) and ends in (M)iami. Hence the name Tamiami Trail. Tamiami Trails runs a few blocks east of Sarasota Bayfront. The close proximity to the bay and Sarasota downtown makes these neighborhoods very desirable. 

Indian Beach Sapphire Shores 

One of the neighborhoods West of the Trails is Indian Beach Sapphire Shores. This neighborhood is north of downtown Sarasota and is surrounded by New College, Ringling School of Arts, and FSU. There are a variety of different homes for sale in Indian Beach Sapphire Shores. They range from the $200,000's going into the millions. There is something for everyone. One thing this neighborhood has in common with other West of the Trail neighborhoods are gorgeous sunsets over Sarasota Bay. 

Harbor Acres

Home prices are significantly higher than in Indian Beach Sapphire Shores. 

Tropical Shores

Further south is Tropical Shores. This neighborhood offers affordable mostly ranch style homes. Many of them are now being renovated and updated. Vamo Park is a public park with access to the bay.  There is a voluntary membership to the neighborhood association with offers a community clubhouse, a boat ramp and boat slips.
