HOW TO VOTE...Fran's Friday Forum...!!!

Don’t get excited or all bent out of shape at the title to this post...I would never presume on anyone’s intelligence or freedom by TELLING THEM WHO THEY SHOULD VOTE FOR...BUT.......

 

In light of the recent ‘NEVER TRUMP’ fancy footwork of using the term ‘VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE’ to evade saying ‘I’M SUPPORTING DONALD TRUMP’ or suggesting we ‘SHOULD SIT OUT THIS ELECTION BY NOT VOTING FOR PRESIDENT’ as avoiding supporting Trump (READ: A VOTE FOR CLINTON), I felt compelled to WRITE THIS POST AND LAY OUT THE REAL AND TRUE FACTS to anyone willing to LISTEN AND LEARN...PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE CHRISTIAN or ARE DRIVEN BY GOOD MORAL ETHICS...

 

PLEASE BEAR WITH ME...!!!

 

The word ‘CONSCIENCE’ is not properly defined by most dictionaries...e.g., I would like to show how the meaning of ‘CONSCIENCE’ has DEVOLVED AND BECOME CORRUPTED as time has passed:

 

OUR CURRENT DICTIONARY MEANING: an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one's behavior. (NOTE THE WORD ‘FEELING’)

 

AN OLDER DEFINITION FROM THE CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH DICTIONARY: the part of you that judges how moral your own actions are...(NOTE THE WORDS ‘JUDGES’ and ‘ACTIONS’)

 

AND FROM THE CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: The conscience of the Christian is known by him/her to act not alone, but under the enlightenment and the impulse derived from revelation and grace in a strictly supernatural order. (NOTE THE WORDS ‘ACT’, ‘ENLIGHTENMENT’, ‘REVELATION’, and ‘GRACE’), and I would like to imply ‘KNOWLEDGE’...!!!

 

NOW, as a teacher of Christian Catholic Catechetics for nearly 30 years...LET ME TRY TO LAY IT OUT CLEARLY AND SIMPLY FOR YOU: In order for one’s CONSCIENCE to be exercised clearly, properly, and without prejudice...IT MUST BE PROPERLY FORMED...!!!

 

Each one of us has the obligation to OUR CREATOR to use the gifts of KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING, and WISDOM to properly form and use our consciences...JUST AS FREEDOM IS NOT FREE, NEITHER WILL OUR CONSCIENCES BE USED CORRECTLY UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN PROPERLY FORMED..!!!

 

I apologize if this post is a bit ‘heady’, but I ask you to read it slowly, carefully, respectfully, and open mindedly, and with PRAYER AND GRACE...I TRUST YOU WILL GET MUCH OUT OF IT...!!!

  8. He does not model sacrifice or altruism.
  9. He doesn’t seem to care about the poor.
  10. His love of money is more apparent than his love of God or of others.

Respectfully, as a practicing Catholic myself, I would NEVER presume to make judgements as these 'Christian' sociologists did. They have assumed the role of Judge, and ONLY God can judge a person's motives. 

As much as I detest President Obama, his policies, and his administration for leading us in the wrong direction, I still pray for him, and would never judge him according to the list of comments above...they are totally non Christian, in my opinion...!!!

I expect to read and hear rhetoric like your comment from now until the election. I don't think either of us is going to change our minds with regard to our voting preferences, but I pray and ask God to give us true discernment, knowledge and wisdom to see clearly THE TRUTH and act upon it...!!!

As I was reading your comment the words of Scripture came to me, there is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, woman or man, just one body of Christ...!!! I guess it is hard for those outside the Church to see that. If Jesus were here right now He would probably add black or white, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative...!!!

This is not to say that whatever goes is OK...We have the obligation as Christians to discern right from wrong and vote accordingly...!!! The thread that seemed to run through most of the speakers at the DNC was that of RELATIVISM, the age old heresy and error that there is no absolute Truth...we know better, there is Absolute Truth and His name is Jesus Christ...!!!

You may call it "relativism," I call it "evolved." For example, until Loving vs. Virginia in 1967 it was ILLEGAL for different races of people to marry one another in some states. Would you call repealing anti-miscegenation laws "relativism?"

There are many laws which are immoral that need to be repealed. And I agree we need to evolve to deal with those. but relativism basically says that there is no absolute truth, and that's not true...!!! One and one are two, and blacks are human beings...as an example...!!!
