Well, a re-post of a true story from Joe Petrowsky.
Mortgage Payment $989, Health Insurance $1112
I am seeing health insurance cost that are higher than mortgage payments. For many in this country, that lost their health insurance, they don’t see the benefit of the Affordable Care Act, being affordable at all. Their original monthly cost was less than half of their current obligation.
I met with this couple, as they wanted to purchase a larger home for their family, they just weren’t going to be comfortable with what their mortgage payment is going to be plus the cost of their monthly health insurance. The wife had a full time job, but her employer cut her back to 25 hours. She told me that she wasn’t alone, nearly 20 others, were cutback as well, most stayed because it was still a paycheck.
It breaks my heart when I see situations like this, they really want to sell and buy another home, but they just can’t. She thanked me and said, we have to be thankful for what we have.
