With over a thousand homes surrounding a beautiful wooded lake, Lake Barcroft is located near convenient Falls Church. Getting it's start as a reservoir to provide water for the City of Alexandria, Lake Barcroft came to be in 1915. By the 1940s, the reservoir was too small to provide for the needs of Alexandria, so in 1950 the 135 acre reservoir and 680 acres of land were sold to a partnership of developers.
Today, Lake Barcroft is a highly sought after community, not only because of its location, beaches and lake, but also for its active event-filled community, from Easter Egg Hunts and Ice Cream Socials to Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks to Labor Day Games and Holiday Parties.
While the lakefront property is owned by just over 200 residents, all residents of the community have lake access privileges. Homes range from ever-popular mid-Century modern designs to the ultra contemporary newer homes that are often built after the older homes have been torn down.
It's not always easy to find a home in Lake Barcroft, however, as the neighborhood is extremely popular and homes can sell very quickly. Right now, the average list price of active listings is:
...while the average days on market has remained pretty consistent for the past five years:
Be ready, though, to pay close to list price (or more, if the property warrants multiple offers) because as you can see, the average sold price to list price is consistently very high.
