I had kind of a scare today.  My daughter and I went to the ranch to ride our horses.  While she had her horse (Kayley) tied to the hitching post, Kayley spooked.

She actually broke the hitching post and pulled it out of the ground which, of course, spooked her more.  The hitching post is right outside the barn door, so Kayley ran into the barn, pulling this huge hitching post behind her.  Of course, the more she ran, the more spooked she got.

My daughter tried to calm her without getting hurt herself.  Anyway, to make a long story short,  we finally got Kayley to calm down, and we cut the lead rope off of her.  She was shivering, scared to death, and had some scrapes, but she wasn't hurt seriously.

I am SO thankful that the Lord protected my daughter.  There could've been a much sadder ending...  :)

Congratulations to you that no one got hurt.  I guess part of the excitement with riding horses is that you never know what might happen but I have to say....I love my motorcycle.  I only have to worry about what other drivers are going to do.....also a challange!

Scott - That's what my husband says.  He'd rather drive a motor vehicle than ride a horse - They're too unpredictable!  :)

It is very dangerous working with horses. I'm happy to hear that your daughter is ok.

Shaun - Yes, it is dangerous.  I'm glad these incidents don't happen very often!  :)

Yikes...I'm so glad this worked out okay.

We started homeschooling (just wrapping up our first year), and my daughter has been learning to care for and ride horses. I don't let her know, but I've always been intimidated. Josie, however, is a natural.

Take care!

Joey -  Homeschooling is great!  We do it, too.  We've homeschooled from kindergarten through graduation for all of our 4 children.  Well, my youngest will graduate next year.  It really is a blessing.  You will be glad you did!

Oh, we must never forget just how big and powerful they are...it is humbling to see how things can turn so quickly...always use a slip knot so it can be released if the horse spooks...yikes

Patrice - Things can change in an instant.  I thought she did use a slip knot - I'll have to ask her... Thanks for stopping by!  :)
