ActiveRain Is Ahead of the Curve
Yesterday I tuned in via Facebook Live to Inman Connect San Francisco to catch keynote speaker Gary Vaynerchuk (or Gary Vee, to his 'followers') as he spoke to a room full of real estate professionals on how to survive & thrive in the modern market. There was a lot of talk about tech and using social media to capture new business and stay relevant. There was also a lot of ideas tossed out there on how to be successful in today's real estate world.
While there were some good takeaways, a lot of the ideas I've heard elsewhere, and while I agree with & appreciated his "looking ahead" mindset, the biggest takeaway I left with was how far ahead of the curve our community is at ActiveRain.
Gary, in August of 2016, was being (presumably) paid a lot of money to tell agents they needed to focus their online efforts toward being local experts - a go-to resource offering value to local people looking for local info. Where have I heard that before? YEARS ago, Bob Stewart was talking about the very same thing, and for those in the rain that listensed, they've had the opportunity to get ahead of the curve.
"Localism" is something that's been discussed again and again here in the rain, and it's as relevant today as it was years ago - one of the biggest faces of social media today is telling real estate agents the same thing today that ActiveRain has been telling real estate agents and industry professionals for years - the future is localism - offering local information and value to people looking for it online.
If the concept is new to you, visit the blog of a localism superstar like George Souto . George blogs about local events with the best of them, and sets a great example on how to do it right. Jeff Dowler is another one that provides all the information you need and then some about his local Carlsbad, CA market.
While blogging is no longer a mysterious platform to the masses as it was when ActiveRain started touting localism as the way of the future, the very same lessons can be used and transferred into the world of social media. Local hashtags, local reviews, and Q&A's about any and all things local can be broadcast across all social media spectrums, and of course, can still be blogged about today with tremendous results.
Between the wealth of knowledge in our collective membership, the "looking ahead" mindset of people like Bob Stewart & Ben Kinney, and the growing power of platforms like AR University, ActiveRain has proven to be, and will remain ahead of the curve when it comes to helping you prepare for your success, both in the immediate and longer term futures.
