Sandpoint's Long Bridge Swim - 2016
The Long Bridge Swim while challenging plays host to swimmers from 13 to 70 years old. And no small task for those or any in between. Starting from the south side of the Long Bridge, in Sagle, the participants swim along side the Long Bridge for 1.76 miles. This is officially where it is considered Lake Pend Oreille turns to Pend Oreille River. Registered swimmers has grown to approximately 700 from the 1st years 68.
Quite an event to watch from the walking portion of the bridge. Boat traffic is halted on either side of the bridge for 2 hours and then reopened. Kayaks are in abundance making themselves available for troubled swimmers.
Whether participating or observing, this is a must do event.
