DAY 15

Finally got some photos uploaded of the exterior paint.  I'm so disappointed.  The photos really don't show how GOOD it looks!  The change is subtle, I admit.  Guess we didn't want the house to stand out like a sore thumb anyway.  But the shade is very nice, and once the landscaping is in, will look even nicer.  Here are the before and afters.  The original color was gray and white (with gold stucco on the chimney! clash!).

The paint is going on in the inside, as well.  Mike came home and said he felt it was too dark.  I drove over to check it out and was pleasantly surprised.  Not too dark.  Hard to tell anything from these photos, but this is what I saw.  The new color is on the right.  Pretty neutral, huh?

Spent some time shopping tile for the master shower, too.  Can't beat the prices at Lowe's for neutral tile.  And we really like it, too.  We'll see what our partners think.

Here's what the fireplace looks like with the top of the brick boxed in with drywall.  I think it will bring the house into a more "today" look.  Most buyers are not into used brick (though I personally like it!).

All the demo is now complete:  The dead sod and trees in the front yard, the guest vanity, and the back fence.  Gone.  The big dumpster was picked up today, too.

We're still enjoying this journey!  Everyone's getting pretty physically tired, though.  Mike, Joe and Anne work all day and then over to the house most evenings to get things done.  (I've got the "interior decorator" job.  Pretty cush!)

Jean, thank you!  We're having a blast with this; except when we can't agree on colors, that is ("should it be that light of a brown?" "No, I like the DARK brown."  "Brown is brown!")!!! LOL  by Debbie

Nancy & Gita - Actually, thank you so much for reminding me about the Lowe's Realtor discounts!  I use them for our clients - closing gifts, etc., but haven't yet for us.  We did get a great sale on the paint.  They were having a sale on their Olympic brand.  The satin paint for the walls seemed to work fine, but the kitchen and trim paint doesn't cover without two coats.  I could see that happening if the color you were trying to cover was way different than the new, but that isn't the case.  I understand that their Valspar brand, though more expensive, covers much better.  And believe me, with all of the base trim we have to paint on our hands and knees, coverage is a BIG DEAL!

I'm going on Lowe's right now and checking out how best to keep those discounts with us for quick runs for this and that!        ~Debbie
