The 9th Annual Long Grove Chocolate Festival

May 2-3-4, 2008

Warmer weather and sunny skies- we hope- can only mean one thing: the kickoff of Long Grove's summer festivals. The first of the three largest festivals - Chocolate Fest - will take over downtown this weekend. The festival is a chocolate-lover's dream, with restaurants and store owners in town dreaming up a plethora of ways to enjoy the sweet treat.

When?

Friday, May 2nd, Saturday  May 3rd and Sunday, May 4, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 6PM

Where?

Long Grove
1165 Old McHenry Rd
Long Grove , IL 60047

Take I-290 West to I-294 North to I-90 West, or take I-90/94 and stay on I-90 to 53 North. Go to the end of 53 and take the west exit, which will put you on Lake-Cook Road. Go to the traffic light (Rte 53/Hicks Road) and turn right. Go to the second light and turn left onto Old McHenry Road and into the village. The Municipal Archer parking lot will be on your right.

Who should come?

Everyone who loves chocolate!

What's Happenning?

CHOCOLATE DEMOS
Throughout the weekend, visit  the Welcome Tent located at the main intersection and watch demonstrations by Chicagoland's prestigious culinary chef community who will share their secrets and chocolate creations  located at Mill Pond Creek.

MUSIC, MUSIC AND MORE MUSIC
This year's lineup of stage entertainment on two stages Saturday & Sunday is better than ever. The schedule includes everything from pop to rock to folk to country!  Entertainers such as Slamabama and the Wes Jon Trio will be performing during the weekend.

Jeep will feature an action track at the Village Tavern parking lot. The company will bring in four trailers to showcase the latest technology and an adventure course, similar to the one at the Chicago Auto Show, which people can ride through in a Jeep.

Chocolate Treats! Wherever you go, surrender to temptation as you bite into a cold chocolate-dipped strawberry, crunch on fresh chocolate popcorn, bask in the flavor of a perfect chocolate cake, taste the sweetness of the ultimate chocolate donut... even sip up a chocolate martini!

SHOP TILL YOU DROP!
To add to the festivities, you will be offered a special Long Grove tote bag just for accumulating $150 in receipts in any of our Historic Business District Businesses during your Festival visit. Many of the Village's nearly 80 specialty shops are waiting for your visit with chocolate-themed items.  Don't miss Olivia's past and the Artisan- two of my favorite stores.

Bring the Kids!
The Krafty Kids' Tent will provide a special chocolate craft, face painting and more! Pony Rides Express will also be offered.. Also the kids will receive  a commemerative Chocolate Fest Photo by the Covered Bridge.

After the Festival:

Still hungry?  You can dine at one of the fine restaurants in town. Restaurants in Long Grove include Enzo & Lucia's Ristorante & Cafe, For Pete's Sake, Long Grove Cafe and Restaurant, Seasons of Long Grove Restaurant, Timmy's Sandwiches & Ice Cream,  Victoria's Mexican Grill, and  The Village Tavern of Long Grove

Why?

Ever wondered why so many chocolate festivals are held all over the world, each year? Well, chocolate is considered to be the ‘food of the gods' and once you enjoy the pleasures that this food has to offer, you too will appreciate exactly why.  Hope to see you at the Festival!

Hi Judy G:  What a fun-sounding celebration of all things chocolate.  Unfortunately, even if I left right now, I'd never make it in time.  It also makes so much sense that after eating all that chocolate, that you would leave the event using "Hicks" (as in "hiccup") Road... LOL.  Thanks for sharing.  Yum !

Judy, a chocolate festival. Now how great is that? You find the neatest information to let us and the public know about. Who doesn't like chocolate too?

I am so letting my partner know to look out for next year's Chocolate Festival. Sometimes I have to just wave a Hershey's bar in front of her to calm her down!
