What is a true vacation?

By

This is not an answer line for the TV show Jeopardy.

For me a TRUE vacation is a week, (I don't know what a longer one is).

A true vacation is when your cell phone and Ipad or laptop stay home.

A true vacation is when you do not think of the office or business.

A true vacation is when you leave business with a trusted co worker!

A true vacation is taken at the slow time of your market.

I am planning one now for sometime in December and will leave very little for a co worker to worry about.

I will be totally unpugging! For those of you that are old enough to remember, this is what we did back in the 70's and 80's.

I have tried this before and I come back refreshed and find I missed NOTHING IMPORTANT enough to ruin a TRUE VACATION!

TRY IT!

Good morning, Rob. The last time I was on one of those was back when there were "brick" cell phones and they just didn't have service where I was! Nowadays, I don't know if I could do it--or would do it.

I believe in "unplugging".  It is not a vacation if we do not.  We seem to think the world will stop if we don't stay spinning but it never happens! It is OK! =)

Hmmm, interesting concept. I would like to try that some day. I think it would be good to try this for years at a time. That time is coming!

I'm fine with disconnecting from work, but not from family. I still enjoy checking in via facebook and text messages while on vacation.

Rob- I guess I haven't taken a true vacation in years...pre smart phones.  Way back when, you truly had to rely on your co-workers when you were gone.

Amen, Rob! And I don't even have a co-worker to leave it to! I've had a few vacations this year--a new thing for me--and am even taking my husband to my beloved Thousand Islands where I grew up learning how to fish, swim, waterski, run a boat, and love being on the water--the pre-cursor to loving Fishhawk Lake!
