Tour Books for the Third Annual Green Homes Tour are available in a variety of places. But they are running out quickly, and many of the stores on this list are not open on the weekend!
If you're interested in Green Homes, Green Builders, or just want to take a look at homes under construction in Chatham County near Raleigh that have the newest materials and building trends, you'll want to check out the Triangle Green Homes tour this weekend.
These Green Homes have special features like:
- Rainwater Collection Systems
- Zero-Voc Paints
- Sealed Crawl Space
- Energy Star
- Built-in Recycling centers
- Water efficient showers, faucets, and toilets
- Local prefinished hardwoods
- Low-Voc Carpets
- Many other Green Building features and techniques
There are 40 total green homes in the tour this weekend, offered by a variety of Raleigh area home builders. The Green Homes Tour Book and the Home Builder's Association website provide area maps and individual home information. In Chatham County alone, there are 10 green homes available to tour - and here's a complete tour of the homes in the area.
These homes will be open Saturday May 3 10am-6pm and Sunday May 4 noon-6pm

Map #C1 - 27 Stoney Branch Trail, Price Creek, Chapel Hill, 3538 sq ft, $697,000.
From Chapel Hill, take 15/501 south 1.3 miles south past Southern Village. Turn right on to Smith Level Road, then immediate left onto Booth Rd. Turn left onto Amber Wood Run and left at the stop sign onto Stoney Branch Trail (first home on right).
Map #C2 - 174 Craig Hill Lane, Ridge Springs, Chapel Hill, 3629 s/f, $769,348.
From previous home, take Stoney Branch Trail back to Amber Wood Run. Turn left, go about 1/2 mile, Amber Wood will turn into Ridge Springs Drive. Go to end, which is a culdesac. Then go onto culdesac extension which goes downhill approximately 1200 feet. At bottom is another culdesac, house is on right.
Map #C3 - 83 Bingham Ridge Dr, Bingham Ridge, Pittsboro, 2466 sq ft, Sold/Unavailable.
From previous home, go back to Booth Rd. Turn right onto Booth, then right onto Smith Level Rd, then almost immediate right onto 15/501 South. Take 15/501 south approximately 1 mile. Turn right on Mann's Chapel Rd. Go 2.5 miles, turn right onto Poythress Rd. Bear left at the Chapel onto Lamont Norwood Rd. Go 2 miles, turn right onto Bingham Ridge Drive (second house on left).
Map #C4 - 120 Grove Park Circle, Heartland Grove, Pittsboro, 4940 sq ft, $719,900.
From previous home, turn back onto Lamont Norwood Rd towards 15/501. Turn right on Tobacco Rd (Tobacco Rd goes south only). Turn left on Mann's Chapel Rd, then left on Heartland Dr, then left on Grove Park Circle (home is directly behind the Park Pavilion).
Map #C5 - 602 Chapel Ridge Dr, Chapel Ridge, Pittsboro, 3600 sq ft, $800,000.
From previous home, turn right on Heartland Dr, then right on Mann's Chapel Rd, go two miles. Right on Oak Hill Rd, 1/2 mile, then right on River Rd, about two miles. Then left on Chicken Bridge Rd, right on Old NC-87/Old Graham Rd. Chapel Ridge Golf Club will be on the right. Enter Chapel Ridge, at stop sign turn rt on Chapel Ridge Dr. Home is on right in half mile.
Cattail Creek Neighborhood - Homes in the $250s-350s.
Available features include sealed crawlspaces, rainwater collection systems, Energy Star certification, tankless hot water heaters, and other green building features and techniques. Homes are not currently fully green built, but green built homes are available upon request.
From previous home, exit Chapel Ridge, turn left on Old NC-87/Old Graham Rd. Turn left on Chicken Bridge Rd, then left on Hwy 87. Go 1/2 mile, then right on Castle Rock Farm Rd. Go three miles on Castle Rock Farm, then left on White Smith Rd. Go one mile, then left into Cattail Creek development. From construction entrance, go to first home on left. From main entrance, follow Rebecca Lane around in loop to last home on right.
Map #C9 - 334 Bellemont Rd, Chatham Forest, Pittsboro, 2355 sq ft, Sold/Unavailable
From previous home, turn left onto White Smith Rd. Past stop sign, then left at second stop sign onto Silk Hope Gum Springs Rd. Go 5 miles, then turn rt on Hwy 87. Turn left onto business Hwy 64 (in Pittsboro). Continue east past the traffic circle. Turn left at Davie St, then rt at Thompson St, then left at Chatham Forest Dr. At stop sign, turn right onto Bellemont Rd. House is approx. 1/4 mile on right.
Map #C10 - 176 Stoney Creek Way, The Legacy at Jordan Lake, Chapel Hill, 5200 sq ft, $879,000.
From Chatham Forest, head south on Chatham Forest Dr, then turn left on Thompson St, then almost immediate right on Fairgrounds Rd. Almost immediate left onto US 64 Business, 2 miles, then ramp onto US-64 E. Go 4.3 miles, then left at Big Woods Rd. Go one mile, then follow signs into the Legacy at Jordan Lake or get a map at the gate.
Map #C8 - 16 Windy Knoll Circle, Briar Chapel, Chapel Hill, 6584 sq ft, $791,124
From previous home, turn right onto Big Woods Rd, then left onto US64. Go about 6 miles to 15/501, then turn right onto 15-501 North. Final three Chatham County Green Homes are in the Briar Chapel subdivision. Follow 15-501 north, take a left into Briar Chapel's main entrance, Briar Chapel Parkway. Go approximately 1.5 miles, home will be on right at corner of Briar Chapel Parkway and Windy Knoll Circle.
Map #C7 - 128 Tobacco Farm Way, Briar Chapel, Chapel Hil, 2538 sq ft, $439,000
From previous home, go back to Briar Chapel Parkway, then turn onto Tobacco Farm Way.
