What is it? It’s radon.
Radon is naturally occurring but it kills more than 22,000 people each year. According to the CDC, radon kills more people than drunk driving and, excluding smoking, is the largest cause of lung cancer. It can easily go undetected in our homes, but fortunately, we can do something about it! Special radon gas detectors are used by professionals like 3Rs Construction to measure the amount of radioactive particles that are released into the air.

As you can see from this illustration, radon gets into your home through the soil and water supply. Normally, radon escapes through the ground, but it can get trapped indoors by entering through cracks in the floors and walls, construction joints, and gaps in service pipes.
