Decisions Have Consequences

 As you get older you tend to look back at life and the decisions you've made but in the long run, if you're looking for excuses; I have none.  I believe I've learned more from the corrections I've made along the way to fill a four-year degree in psychology Gary Woltal

I know every decision I have made had a consequence. I regrette some, have learned from others and been glad for many. Congrats on the feature, Gary.

We are building our resume with each decision we make - We are creating our futures with each decision we make - sort of scary!

THINK about your decisions a little longer before you make them. They do take you down roads. Is THAT the road you really, AND I MEAN REALLY, want to go down??

I believe big decisions need a couple days to seek wise counsel before making them or one will pay the consequences.

Good morning Gary. I think this is poignant and true. Well done.

So are you saying that we are pretty much the sum total of all the decisions that we have made and not the victim of what life's lottery has sent our way?

How you answer that question has profound implications on how  and when you decide to make your life change.  Do you take responsibilty or do you look to blame someone?

It's also has implications on how one goes about helping people who have made bad decisions which have led to bad consequences.  You can be "compassionate" and bail them out, our you can be "mean spirited" and have the consequences teach them what they need to learn and be there to help guide them to make better decisions in the future.

Hi Gary, so true. Regardless of how small or big, every choice we make has a consequence. Some choices cost us dearly.

It is defiantly a good idea to take a look at the outcome of decisions. Not long ago we started a property management company in Redding CA. and right after the launch the sales market in our area began to return.

I have started to point this out to my teenagers.  That while they are free to make the choice, they are not free from the consequences.  Short term versus long term gratification is something that is learned through making "poor" choices.  Staying up too late the night before a big test, results in a less than stellar score the next day.  Was it worth it?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

Pretty simple concept.  Sometimes the consequence is short-lived ( that last glass of wine) or much longer!

There are numerous decisions that we have to make each day, some minor, some not. And in our business decisions can have significant impact  on our lives, or financially, and are not easily reversible. Those who make decisions impulsively, in RE or in real life, can sometimes suffer consequences they didn't expect. And those decisions made in emotional situations may not always be the best.

Not making a decision can have significant consequences as well!

Gary, this is a great post.  The decisions we make in life can be major to our success in life and to who we really are. They do have short-and-long-term consequences. At the same time, we must take into consideration that there are some things in life that are not totally in our hands. Destiny still plays a factor. Perhaps we could say that some things are destined long before we got here.
