Ask An Ambassador: Rinse, Lather, Repeat Your Way To The Top

By
Real Estate Agent with Transaction Alliance 513.520.5305 www.LizTour.com SAL.2002007747

The internet is a competitive landscape for real estate bloggers.  We're going up against the big 800 pound gorillas of real estate trying to carve out a piece of the pie adequate to support our business.

It wasn't always that way, and once upon a time if you blogged anything at all you'd probably get found.  The big competitors weren't out there and neither were other agents trying to increase their web presence.

Obviously, we're in a different real estate landscape now.  Tons of companies offer platforms for agents to blog and get their message out.

Today, a single post on a topic might not have much chance of even seeing the first few pages of a search result, much less finding a place that the consumer will see you BEFORE they stop looking.

So what can you do?  Repeat.  Repeat.  Repeat.  Not literally of course.  You're not going to gain anything by posting the same post over and over.  The bots will go "DUPLICATE CONTENT" and move on.

But what you can do is repeat on a topic.  New posts, same theme.  If you've got a niche, you keep going for iterations on that niche.

For example if you want to develop inroads on new construction, you blog about the process and blog about new construction communities.  Then you follow up with updates.  Phase I is complete, another 21 homes coming in Phase II.  It's August and the builder is offering a free finished basement with purchase, CALL NOW for details.   Repeat with other new construction communities and other builders.  Rinse, lather, repeat.  Post.  Post.  Post.

Build YOUR topic authority.  Do it enough and those bots might give you "extra credit" for being a subject matter expert and bump up your rankings.  You're publishing lots of digital breadcrumbs to be found.  Provide relevant, READABLE content and the odds of you getting found continue to climb.

You don't have to post daily, but you do need to post regularly if you want to capture attention.  Blogging is an endurance event.  It's well worth the time and effort, but you've got to keep on blogging if you want to maintain results.

Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help!

Susan, It's certainly done its job for us!

Tracy, No argument.  It's work, but good work.

Lou, Thanks!

Melissa, It's one of the best perks of this community.

Yes, this advice makes a lot of sense. There are a lot of big real estate companies that spend a lot of money to be the top result as well - lots of competition for those top slots!

So true about blogging consistently.  It's important to work on a topic and get those posts out there. I'm working on a How to series, but not as consistent as I should be.  Thanks!

Joan, It works for us and should apply anywhere.

Kat, There's the power of niches.  The big companies can't go after EVERYTHING.

Ronald, So we keep working the iterations of our main keywords.  We may not get all of page 1, but we can get a lot of it.

Carolyn, Spot on.  Be known in your local area.

Richie, It's become an essential job function whether agents know it or not.

Tammy, Happy to help! We're here every Tuesday with something to cover.

Jan, We keep pounding away and its working for us.

I am playing major catch-up on market reports. While the gist of the post contain the same content, just a few words changed here and there make a difference in duplicate content. I recently noticed that I'm ranking on page one on Google for many neighborhoods in 6 or 7 spots. That's why I'm not going to miss one month of posts, even though, I'm posting three months late. I'll be good as gold once I've caught up. In the meantime, AR will have to deal with my abundance of long overdue reports.

Bruce, They can't be everywhere can they?  So that local detail is where we can all win.

Paul, True, we've got to keep feeding our key topics.  It's not enough to just get there, we need to stay there.

Tammie, It makes sense to do what you're doing.  Google isn't going to care too much about the how long after part, just that the information exists.

Jeremy, Thanks for mentioning us!
