Have you broken into your local Nextdoor.com Neighborhood yet?
I joined mine a few years ago, it's a website that is dedicated to your specific neighborhood. Nextdoor.com is a community chat-room essentially, where folks can ask local questions, get local crime or garage sale info, community events and yes, there's gold here too for you....people asking questions about their local real estate market or DIY (do it yourself home repairs & projects) questions.
Nextdoor.com is a FREE, it's private to your neighborhood as you have to have a physical address to join the neighborhood, and there's lots of opportunities here. From attending local events to meet and or support your neighbors to answering real estate questions or referring people in need your tradesmen and professionals from your network.
It's a great opportunity to become visible authentically to your neighbors by answering questions and generally being a resource. WARNING: do not go poaching here, it's not a place to be a cheesy salesman/woman. Let people get to know YOU first, they'll eventually understand what you do for a living and eventually prospects reveal themselves naturally.
Our local police dept. is actually the host of our Nextdoor.com , so we get great real time crime updates, which thank God is not often or on the "heavier side" too frequently. Garage sales, school events, movie in the park nights, etc.
In an era where people "cocoon" (drive home, close the garage door behind them and tend to not even know any neighbors more than 2 houses away in any direction, Nextdoor.com offers a high tech way to drop a bridge over people's moat and storm the castle (socially) once again.
Check it out and if you want, post your primary neighborhood, city & state in a reply to me so I know where you specialize for referrals!
