Dealing with Disappointments

By

We have all been there. Something is supposed to happen, and it doesn't, for whatever reason. We usually are not happy with this negative outcome, but how we deal with this disappointment says much about our character.

I was just called by a glass company guy that the glass for a sliding door that was supposed to be fixed today did not come in. He was supposed to be at the house in 15 minutes and my wife had left work to be there for them. Disappointing? Yes. It means we will have to jump through hoops again to make sure someone is at the house when the glass comes in.

I called my wife and she was just turning into the neighborhood. How did she take the news? She laughed. She said, well, I guess I will turn around and head back to work. Was she thrilled? Nope. But she handled the disappointing news well.

I have had sellers get their homes all ready for an agent showing, leave the house, and the agent never shows up or calls. They were livid and scream and yell about how they are being put out. Others, merely shrug and say we will get the next one.

Sometimes life throws us disappointing news. I think how we handle these situations describes our character.

Good morning Peter. You are absolutely right, it is a measure of who we are how we handle disappointments.

Sometimes reaction just depends on the day and how I'm feeling. I must admit, I don't always let it roll off my back.
