Sedona is the Crimson Gem of Northern Arizona
Most Beautiful Place In America!
Five years ago this month, Sedona was named by ABC's Good Morning America as 'GMA' -"Most Beautuful Place in America". ....and Why Not? I have been an "Ambassador" for this city since 2001, when my husband and I fell in love with the area, the people, the stars, the weather and of course, the crimson red rocks.
In fact I finally changed my real estate website name to "SellSedona.com". Because of the special love and attachment I have for Sedona, I am constantly touting everything from the weather, to the majestic scenery. The outdoor activities are some of the best in the world. We have history from the Wild West Days to the ancient time our native American ancestors inhabited the area. All around the Verde Valley are examples of our native American brothers and sisters. From petroglyphs to artifacts of broken pottery anyone can find as they hike the trails.... especially after a nice summer rain.
The Magic Of The Sedona Art Colony & Galleries
Many local artists and aritist worldwide are drawn to this mystical location for many
reasons. Besides the beautiful scenery, we have some of the premier art galleries that any
afficienado would enjoy. Many have a southwestern flair but show art and jewelry from
around the world. You can find unique gifts and artwork in Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts
Village. Goldenstein Gallery among others like Exposures are renowned and visited by
tourists from around the world. Hillside Sedona is another special shopping area with
restaurants and boutique galleries that all enjoy.
There Are Four Seasons In Sedona
Spring
In the last 2 years, we have experienced a spring
season that starts around the beginning of
February and lasts until the beginning of June.
May and June are usually our drier months.
Then warmest months of the year are June and
July. A lot of this has to do with lower rain
totals.
Summer
Our summers are mild compared to the Valley of the Sun which is 2 hours south of
Sedona. The temps during the day are around 15º
cooler. But it is the nights that are so much better. We
rarely get above the mid 60ºs. So the windows are
open and the air conditioner is off. The scents ot pine
and juniper fill the air.
Fall
Yes, we have a Fall and Winter Season. The leaves
start to change higher up in Oak Creek Canyon first.
This is around mid October but where I live, it isn't until mid November before we have
temps that will allow the leaves to change
colors. Many of the residents and tourists
who are staying in the Phoenix-Scottsdale
areas come up to see the ASpens change in
Flagstaff and the colors of Oak Creek
canyon. It is a busy time of year for us.
Winter
Our winter season is relatively short by
most of the United States standards. It is
rare that we get snow as early as the
beginning of December and then it is only
a dusting that goes away. We rarely see a
day that does not go above freezing. our
normal Winter day is 50º plus. We have
seen snow as high as 8 inches but it is
"polite snow" and leaves the next day. This
past year we almost had a White
Christmas. We have had a white New
Year's, a couple of years. There is nothing
more beautiful than the contrast of the red
crimson rocks against the green pine trees and fluffy white snow!
3 to 5 Million Visitors A Year
With all our touism, you can
imagine how our economy thrives
on tourism. Even when econonic
times are not so good, Sedona does
OK because there are more locals
from all over the surrounding states
that take a vacation here. We are
only 2.5 hours from the Grand
Canyon and many tourists stop here
as well.
We have outdoor activities all year
long. Hiking, biking, tennis, fishing,
rock climbing by Jeep, swimming
and much more.
Our city has received a lot of
television coverage during National
Football Championship games as
well as the Superbowl.
After visiting this magical place,
many people (me included) have decided to purchase a second home or vacation home that
they could retire to at some point in the future. That's where I come into the picture! You
will find no better guide to your future home.
