It is my intention to have a forum for all users of TP7i - to exchange ideas, suggestions, features usage, etc.  I don't want to create a debate about how TP7i compares to other programs.  I hope to learn more about the features and possibilities of TP7i through exchange of communication with other users of TP7i.  Other than that, I hope this group develops organically and we all become power users of TP7i.

Edited to clarify my 'debate' statement: Debate about TP7i is great.  What is not welcome are posts intended to promote another product over TP7i.  Comparison between programs is welcome and Gary David Hall has provided some excellent material.  In other words, if you are an AO user and have no intention of using TP7i, do not come on here and tell everyone how bad TP is and how great AO is (or any other CM program you use).

This would be an awesome forum since I have only been able to tap into 10% of what TP has to offer! Great Idea!

Us too, and we've been using TP since it first came out.  I just opened it yesterday so it will take a few weeks to build up.  We'll see who's interested.

Christina,

Thanks for creating this group.  We have been using TP 7i for years and love it.  Like Robert, I think we are only utilizing a small portion of its functionality.

I also have used TP for several years, and like a lots of their features. I did happen to have a problem back in January 07 with TP using their Template Letters. I found out the hard way that TP dosen't think much of their template letters as they only send them out as a mass mailer. Thats right they can't tell the difference between you sending one (1) email template letter or send out 1000. Below is the response from TP about this problem.

Jerry,
If you send out a template, it is considered a Mass email. Mass e-
mails are not sent instantly as regular e-mails are in TOP PRODUCER
7i. The mass e-mail is placed in a queue by the TOP PRODUCER 7i
servers. Depending on how many other e-mails are currently waiting to
be sent it is possible that the delay may be delayed. Generally the e-
mails are sent within a few minutes, but during peak usage times it
may take more than an hour.
Thank-you,
Susan Winter

Saturday 2/24/07 I tried again. I have alway sent a sample letter to myself before sending to any contacts.

It took 28 hours for 6 individuals letter to be sent. (all template letters and sent to my email address)

I understand and don't have a problem with a mass mailer not going out for a few hours. But TP really has a problem with their email system within their program. I am only saying this to make you aware that your email sent thru TP MAY NOT be sent out for several hours or maybe NOT til the next day.

You need to know this, as I had a client waiting for the email that I tried to send. The Support Dept. of TP

only offered a work around. yes they said I could copy their template letter at the last stage before clicking on send. then create a new email message and paste the template. A lots of my template letters has data fields imbedded into the letters (example: investment property addressses) For sending a letter to one or two clients be careful trying to use a template letter.

Snapshot can be used by anyone who signs up for it at your website, however as a 7i user you must be using top connector too..  believe it is $79 per month.

Ah - I'm already getting over the coronary I had when adjusting to how much per month our team of 6 costs with TP (let alone the additional team members and licenses we'll be adding this year).

I am a new top producer user. Loves all its tools

I recently took a listing and showed my TP marketing worksheet to my clients. They like it so much they ask to keep the copy and then used it as a benchmark for everything I did.

It work for both of us. I had a tool to rely on, they had a tool to measure me on a week to week basis.

It worked for both of us.

What is the TP marketing worksheet?  Would you do a post about it?
5:40pm • #10

Well I am sorry but what I called the marketing worksheet is just TP's listing creation section.  I am sure most of you use this feature.

I included everything I needed to do, from putting it on the MLS, to reducing prices after a month, then 2 month, then included everything I was going to do to actively promote this listing. It looked very impressive. It show how I was commited to get the place sold.

It is in easy to read format. And for it is all automated, every morning I know where I am.

Thanks, Christine

I also use Top Producer - I learn something new all the time.  This would be a great forum.  I did have the same problem as Jerry - sent out a template yesterday and started getting back emails today.  Too late for my realtors luncheon.  Good learning experience.  Looking forward to the new forum.

I have TP and love it. I also use the Top Marketer program to do the Market Snapshots...a great tool to prospect with FSBO's and to keep interest on your website.

TP told me that TP7i wasn't compatible with my new Apple MacBook. I am desperately trying to find a work around as I use TP as the core of my business. The main reason is that 7i only works with Internet Explorer and the latest version of IE for Mac won't load 7i.

Any help out there?

If I can help with any questions - I sure will!!  I am a Top Producer employee and sell the program in my territory of the State of Georgia and the Florida Panhandle.

Suzie mentioned something about her MAC.....  Suzie, right now the only way that you can use TP on a MAC is if you have your MAC partitioned off and have Internet Explorer on the Window's side.  Top Producer doens't support this - but it works.  I have clients that have the partition and use 7i all day long.  Hope this helps!

Christina, I just read this February post, and I'm guilty of asking for opinions of other programs compared to Top Producer last week.  I'm not looking for a "debate", as you put it.  But I'm a TP 7i user who belongs to an MLS Committee that has been asked our opinion about another program; since I've never used another program except TP, this seemed like the right forum for asking about this.  So...

Let me ask this:  If not here, where?  If members of this group aren't the best qualified to answer that type of question who is?  Frankly, if I didn't have that question about Top Producer, I wouldn't have posted to this Group and I would't have read any of the other posts in this Group.  Because I'm here, now I'm having a dialogue with you and others.  Is that all bad?  Wait - don't answer that!  lol.

Margaret - I just edited the post to clarify what I meant.  Sorry about that.  My intention was that I didn't this forum to become something that a user of another program feels is a place to degrade TP and tell us how bad it is and we better use another program.

Why would we do that? It's a great program and one of it's strengths is that it evolves with user comment.

Interesting that you are starting this... I just got a new Mac and called TP today and was told.. it will not work with mac... As popular as these computers are I can't believe that it is not possible to get on... you have to use bootcamp to get on..

Ann - because people do :D

Julie - truth be told, MAC's aren't that popular, they just have a very loyal and vocal fan base :D

We are a team considering top producer 7i - I subscribed to it about 4 or 5 years ago and it was VERY slow and difficult.  My parter still uses 6 and we need to integrate our database.

What are the best features for a team?

I hope to learn something from the group. I have Top Producer since March and I am not even utilizing it at all and I am hoping that I could drop out of the 1 year contract as soon as it is up. So, while I am it, I want to learn something new.... See you there.

The best way to get help besides calling the Technical Support people, is by going to a QuickStart class by one of the Top Producer Sales Reps.  This is a 3 hour class, and if you are already familar with most of the program, most people still learn something new by going to the class.

To find out where the classes are in your area, go to:  http://www.topproduceronline.com/ which is where  you sign into your account.  From there, in the center of the page you will see Training.  In that list is the place where you click to register for a QuickStart class.  Once you click on that link, it will open up a map of the States and you can see where the classes in your State are being held, and you can register from there.

And of course it's always good to get to know your local rep.  And you can find him or her by following the below link:

http://www.topproducer.com/Company/Rep/Default.aspx

Thanks!
