Each of us moves forward because of our competitive nature. Whether we want to admit it or not, we are always cognizant of those who are around us. We are watching them just as they are watching us. One does not need to be a seasoned agent to be competitive. We can create our own competition by knowing who performs the same or similar tasks as we do.
This does not only apply to business. Competitive people seek competitors, no matter what the action may be. The other day, Kathy Streib responded to a comment that I made sharing the fact that she weighs 109 pounds and lifts 145 pounds. Well, if you don’t think that got me off my butt, you really don’t know me!!
I weigh 123 pounds and was lifting only 135 pounds. Today, I managed to lift 145 pounds, and now I’m on a mission. Once I can do 8 to 10 reps with that weight, I’ll add two more discs. I got it off the ground, and now I’ll work on the repetitions for the next two weeks. I lift every other day but workout every day. Now, I have Kathy Streib pushing me forward!!!
Competitive people can compete with anyone, at any time and from any distance. Now, I’ve convinced a friend here to compete with me to keep me moving forward. These are goals that keep me energized.
We do this with business, too. It actually makes doing business fun. I do it to assist the peeps for whom I market to keep them moving forward. When it comes to business, I do this without mentioning it to others. I just stay focused and aware of what’s happening in my marketplace.
There’s a keen awareness of where the players are at all times. Having a firm handle on the current activity of others, and the future subdivisions that we have in the works, creates the fuel to keep us moving and ahead of the competition.
Just a thought for the moment….
And thanks Kathy for pushing me forward!!!
