Houston, we have a problem

Blogging fat lady Today I sent my laptop away to be fixed. Seems what I was blaming on Windows 10 may be..... A dreaded virus. I am beyond sad, we have not been separated for more than a few hours at a time for as long as we have been together.

I'm testing how my little Kindle Fire does in a pinch. My laptop has a 17 inch screen, so this is more than a challenge. Plus my photos are in my computer. It looks as if it will work in a pinch, but not the most convenient.

There is good news, my MLS works on our computers for free! So does our tech department, but it was too far to drive to our corporate office. So off it went today to the MLS office.

PS, pictures will be a challenge, good thing I had my selfie already loaded in Activerain!

I'm praying for a speedy recovery for my trusted friend. In the meantime, its cell phone, Kindle Fire and office computer for me!

I have a backup desktop and a backup laptop. :) I actually am thinking of one more. My ipad works for some things, but pictures are a booger. They generally end up sideways.

Tammy, my back up is best used as a paperweight! But I hear what you are saying. I had an iPad, hunk of junk. I wish I had purchased a Samsung tablet, but I listened to my cousin. Lasted just over a year, repair would have cost 100 less than a new one. I'm using my $50 Kindle Fire. Plus 2 pairs of glasses, lol!

What a nuisance that is, Andrea. It didn't get rained on, did it (a private joke!!)? I often use my Ipad which works well for many things, and many files are in Dropbox but it's not great for everything. Hopefully the separation will be short!

Yes the general consensus seems to be the pictures as a huge drawback. I try to transfer everything to a 'passport' storage which then can go to any computer or lap top with all information at hand. The key being the "try to transfer/save" Mark

Hi Andrea - Bummer. We've been pretty good keeping everything multiply backed up, but I wouldn't want to have to test the adequacy of that, and I know that while I love my iPad, it's not ifdeal for work stuff. Hope it comes back fixed and soon for you.

Dick, I have been in the office today using the office computer, and of course after doing some other work on the MLS, etc. I came to ActiveRain and found I couldn't post, not even a comment! Only on the Q&A! Now that it is time to go home, AR is back up and running again, LOL. I am hoping it will be fixed soon. I have photos to take of a house tomorrow and need my program to adjust them!

Andrea- ugh! Two things I don't like: when my car won't start, and my computer is on the fritz. We have backups and I can work on my iPad but it's not good for inserting pics in my AR post.

Oh Andrea Swiedler My heart goes out to you . Last year I broke my screen had to hook lap top up to tv until it was fixed . Not fun . Time for me to purchase a new one and keep this one as a backup . I also just found out my computer repair shop went out of business Horrible news ...Hope it is fixed quickly

So sorry to here this and VB has 3 pcs & 1 apple, 2 of my pcs are around 10 years old and I have never ever had a virus and have never used a virus detector!

Viruses come from many open windows, not logging off each time a person uses their computer and not deleting all the cookies.

I log off every time and delete all passwords, searches, etc and ... Never ever open up a email and or message from a source I don't personally know ;o)
