Baked French Toast Recipe

Another good recipe from our friend Will Hamm. You will want to watch for his recipe blogs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French bread - 1 lb. loaf
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg (fresh is best)
  • dash of salt
  • Topping, recipe follows
  • Syrup

 

Directions:

Slice bread into 1 in. slices. Place bread slices in buttered 9 x 13 baking pan, overlapping slices. In bowl large enough to hold ingredients, combine eggs, half and half, milk, sugar vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat with whisk until blended. Pour over bread slices, covering all with milk/egg mixture. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

 

Pecan Topping Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 

Directions Day 2:

On day 2, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix topping ingredients in bowl and mix well. Spread pecan topping over bread and bake for 40 minutes, until light brown. Serve with syrup.

Good Monday morning to all. The frustrations with ActiveRain continue this morning. Scheduled blogs and reblogs are not being posted. This feature is still broken.

I am unable to access the Membership Roster to welcome new members. My link to first blogs is not working.
