Jeannie, it is a beaut, isn't it?

Jo, well said - it does have an ambiance and elegance to it!

Joan, If it were my house, I would never touch the mural (or allow anyone else to touch it either, LOL!)

VERY cool house. The mural is something.  Very unique. I love older homes in general, but was never taken in by the "Federal style" - perhaps because we don't have as much of it around here.

Ruthmarie, being originally from Scarsdale, I know what you mean about the absence of Federal style (probably Tudor is more common).  This one is unusual in the sense that it's a late example, I'm told originally built in the 1880s.

Alan, I know what you mean about historic houses being alive.  Some of them have so much character and history that they seem to speak to me.
