I have absolutely fallen in love with North Carolina's State Farmers Market in Raleigh. A few Saturdays ago was the first time I'd been in awhile, and the place was so lively!
As a real estate broker, it seems that I am always on the go - and had gotten into the habit of eating out more than I should. So...as part of my re-commitment to my health (and waistline!), I've started eating better - more fruits and veggies.

As I was walking around at the Farmer's Market, several times, I saw a woman with a carton of huge eggs - and wondered where she purchased them.
She and I happened to be leaving at the same time so I asked her. She pointed me in the right direction and actually gave me a egg. It was a double-yoked egg - and the biggest and best tasting egg I've ever had!

Last week, I visited the Farmer's Market again - and went up to one of the vendors -
Beth Moore's Produce -of Johnston County - to purchase
rutabagas. When I arrived, she said that they were going to throw out.
The food was perfectly good - but because they had turned a little "soft", they indicated that people would not purchase them.
Instead of tossing the rutabagas, the owner gave me quite a few.
These Random Acts of Kindness started me to thinking about the fact that there is still kindness in a world where everything is so hurried - and many people seemingly are concerned only about themselves.
And that we should all try to make someone's day by committing Random Acts of Kindness in our daily lives
What will you do to make someone smile? I guarantee that it'll just Make Their Day!
(It could be something as simple as writing a kind note - or paying for the toll of the person behind you - or letting someone with only a few items get in line in front of you at the grocery store.)

Good for you making the decision to eat healthier, so did I a few months ago and I must admit that I feel much better and have more energy.
I believe random acts of kindness bless the giver even more than the receiver.
Darleen,
I'm not an egg person so I' have no love for eggs. The last time I want to the farer's maret, I bought some lettuce and made a delicious salad. I ate out for a about a week and lee the two other heads of lettuce spoil.
I have great intention, but sometimes poor execution.
Good luck to you!
Lynda ~ Thanks for the compliments. And yes....I'm consumers' REALTOR® on a Mission... NOT Just Seeking a Commission!TM :-D
Carol ~ What a great thing you did! Random acts of kindness always come back to us 10 fold sometimes!
Renee ~ Sounds like a plan!
Penny ~ I loved your blog on the Farmer's Market. It's a great place. Regarding the food, What a great idea! I'm thinking that there is probably certain liability associated with giving away less than "perfect" food, though.
Leesa ~ It definitely does do the heart good!
Cynthia ~ It's sometimes difficult to eat right all the time - but you're right, when I'm eating right, I tend to have a lot more energy, too!
Jacki and Jerry ~ I, too, love the smell of fresh produce!
Darleen,
Great post, thanks for the reminder!
Jim
Jim ~ Hi. You're welcome!
Every month at the Shoals Area Assoc. of Realtors (and associates) they give out a card the size of a business card that says "Pass It On." We are challenged to commit a random act of kindness and to give the person receiving the kindness the "Pass It On" card. I think it rocks.
Darleen, You sharing this piece is a random act of kindness. Thank you for reminding all of us how important this is. Congratulations for the Makeover2takeover contest. I am looking forward to learning more about you and more from you. Later in the rain~Deb
June ~ Interesting concept. It would also be interesting to see how far around the world the card goes.
Debra ~ Thank you for stopping by. And thanks for the congratulations. The world would be a much better place if we all committed random acts of kindness.
Darlene, I just left your neck of the woods. I was in Chapel Hill for my niece's graduation.
We have cousins that have lived there for fifteeen years, We ate at Mama Dip's, Bob Evans and Spanky's (Spanky's was the best). We stayed in Durham and shopped in Raleigh. What I like most was the brick/colonial architectural homes. I felt I had went back into time.
Although; It rain heavily a few times also we experienced some light rain on Sunday during the second day of the graduation events and our plane was delayed heading home due to the storms, resultng in a ten hour delay getting back to the Bay area. overall; we had a pleasant stay.
Dionne ~ Glad you enjoyed your stay in our beautiful state. You'll have to let me know if you're in the area again. It would be great to have coffee or dinner.
I must say that your niece chose one of the finest schools - my alma mater, UNC-CH. :-)
We were in a drought for so long here so now we're happy each time that it rains, even during graduation ceremonies. :-)
Darleen - Thanks for the great post. I like how you were able to incorporate some of your local highlights with such a nice message. Keep up the great work.
Lynn ~ Thank you for stopping by. I love my local area and the people here. They're the best!
I try to do something nice for someone every day. Sometimes it is just acknowledging them with a smile. We have lots of opportunities to do something kind for others, if we pay attention. Thanks for the post and reminder.
I heard a quote once that said there is nothing random about kindness. It is a deliberate act to make another person happy. Mother Theresa said "there are no great deeds, only small deeds done with great love." Thanks for the reminder!
Bonnie ~ I love your idea of doing something nice for someone each day! We should all strive to do this.
Sara ~ Interesting. I suppose that it is deliberate when we choose to be kind to someone. Never thought of it that way. I truly believe that we get back from the world what we send out.
You know I have tried to do more of the random acts. Somehow it just feels better than the planned ones. Can't explain.
