Changing Your Course is a Strategy

No matter how far you have travelled down a

wrong road, turn back.”

Turkish Proverb

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Changing your course is a strategy

There will be times that you have committed yourself to follow a course of action. Where you have invested your time . . . . energy . . . . and resources to follow that path. After you have expended a massive effort to follow that path . . . . you may find yourself headed in the wrong direction.

The question becomes now what . . . . and what do you do now?

When you have determined that you are on the wrong path . . . . It will become impossible to successfully achieve your objectives when you continue to follow that path. . . . and you know that you have to change your course.

Unless you adjust your course you will continue to invest your time . . . .  and resources going down the wrong path. You will see yourself moving farther and farther away from your goals.

You have to be very careful about going down the wrong path. Because . . . . you will not only be wasting your time . . . . and resources it will also be negative effect on your emotions. The farther you go down the wrong path the more emotionally attached to the journey even with the knowledge that you’re moving in the wrong direction.

You will have to dig deep within yourself . . . .  and relay on your decision making to make the right decision . . . .  It will take courage on your part to adjust your course . . . . and let go of the past. Other wise you will expend your resources . . . . and emotional capital on a dead end journey.

Adjusting your course is not . . . .  giving up on your goals. What you’re doing is adjusting your strategies . . . . to successfully achieve your goals.

There is more then one way to reach your goals. Adjusting your course is creating a plan B . . . . and effectively implementing that plan to achieve your original target by moving in a new direction.

You have to know when to change your course and make adjustments to keep you moving in the right direction. When that time has come take bold action . . . . and change your course. Your adjustments will get you back onto the right path with renewed energy . . . .  to move you in the direction of your goals.

Changing your course is a strategy . . . . A success strategy.

Good morning Lou, I love that proverb! I think stubbornness is really the culprit here, urging us farther and farther down that rabbit hole. I suppose I ought to add pride to that too.

Stubbornness and pride are 2 of my worst enemies! They really seem to like spending time with each other. Where there is one, you can usually find the other not far behind.

Hi @Lou - I am not sure that many people equate turning back or regrouping as a strategy but it certainly is! Strategies always need to be tweaked.  Thanks for reminding us.

Lou Ludwig - that's a very good point - altering course is not something everyone can do effectively, I think it takes being able to look at your business and self from the outside - thanks for sharing
