New Smyrna Beach
Visitors, home owners, snowbirds, and anyone who is considering buying real estate in New Smyrna Beach, FL, allow me to present to you, yet another fine reason to live in New Smyrna Beach!

In a collaborative effort to raise awareness of the beautiful downtown New Smyrna Beach historic district, the former members of Mainstreet, Inc., now known as the Canal Street Historic District, in conjunction with Marc Montesson Promotions, this Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., will be promoting a Canal Street Gallery Stroll. This event is aptly named "Gallery Walk Mardi Gras", featuring artists, refreshments and entertainment. This event is hosted by over a dozen shops, museums and galleries.

What you need to know:

  • At 4:00 p.m., you'll need to be at Riverside Drive, Canal and Douglas Streets.
  • All ages are welcome!
  • Canal Street will be filled with music and fun!
  • Blues and Jazz music will be enjoyed on Canal Street as well as at the Clay Gallery on Douglas Street.
  • The New Smyrna Beach High School Jazz Ensemble will be performing at the east end of Canal Street.
  • You can watch pottery being made, live at Mosquito Mud Pottery.
  • Many shops will be offering Mardi Gras masks, beads and other items of revelry.
  • Gumbo, Jumbalaya and other New Orleans food will be offered at participating restaurants and shops.

The cost is free, except for the Beer and Wine Garden in the New Smyrna Beach Pennysaver parking lot.

music festivalWhen you've reached the end of your walk, the Marine Discovery Center on Canal Street will be running a special water taxi from the Riverside Drive dock east of the Brannon Center, to the Inlet Harbor Restaurant where you can continue your Mardi Gras Festivities.
