Remembering 9/11 Hits Home!
"Remembering our Classmates and Friends"
Two local women will always be remembered in the tragedy of New York's twin towers of September 11, 2001. Both were high School graduates of John Adams High School, in South Bend, Indiana.
Kathleen Hawk Nicosia (Kathy Hawk), one of my classmates, was from the graduating class of 1965. She received her BA at Bowling Green State University in 1969. Kathleen, was a Flight Attendant on the American Airlines Flight 11, which struck one of the towers. She was survived by her husband, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Katie McCloskey, also a graduate of John Adams High School, graduated from Indiana University in 1998. She was a computer technician and had worked in tower 1 on the 97th floor for about six weeks before the tragedy.
We will never forget what happened in New York City that day and we will never forget the many people and their families who were affected by the terror attack that shocked the world. Kathleen and Katie, their lives, the people they touched and accomplishments will forever be etched in the South Bend and Granger communities, in northern Indiana.
