Please join Assemblyman Eric Linder (R-Corona) for a Pet Adoption Drive on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 11:30 am to 2 pm at Riverside County Animal Shelter. As we celebrate the one-year anniversary passage of ACR 56 bill, all fees will be waived for cat and dog adoptions on that day.
ACR 56 is a resolution that was passed last year declaring shelter pet as the official California State pet. Over 800,000 animals are typically brought into our state shelters, and only about half of them are adopted. This leaves a large portion of animals that are euthanized. Throughout America homes, only 30% of pets come from shelters, let us increase our community awareness of the plight of shelter animals and help increase the adoption ratio.
Shelter pet will be California's 37th official state symbol. Let us do our part and bring home a loving pet adopted from our local shelters.
