Can I go back inside the house I am Buying before we close?

By

One of the most tense times when buying a home is while waiting for that final mortgage approval. The hard work is done. Forms submitted, appraisal in the books and inspections long over. You wait, and wait and maybe wait some more....

Welcome to Day 8 of my 10 blog series of the "Top 10 tips" for Home Buyers looking to buy their dream home.

#3. Can I go see the house I am buying before we close?

Some frequent questions from a buyer is if they can go to the house they are buying, before they close. Some ask to go once, others weekly and some even daily. The problem is the seller still lives there. It is still their home. Chances are they are packing, they are cleaning and getting ready for the move. They like you and all, but really do not want company.

Often a buyer has one chance at getting back in after the inspection and appraisals are long done. Measuring for curtains, showing the parents or in-laws. So use this time wisely and please be considerate to the seller.

The most critical part of Buying or Selling a home is the Agent/Broker you choose.

You have a choice of agents. Use your choice to hire the BEST agent in your area.

YOU deserve the BEST service when Buying or Selling a home

LEARN THIS ONE FACT:

One should know that

All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest Agent or Company.

It does not take magic to turn your "For Sale" sign into a "Sold" sign. It takes a full time Local Agent who specializes in Listing homes like yours.

Good Sunday morning Scott Godzyk -

Just a couple weeks ago we had a seller who had a "hissy fit" not wanting the buyers to come in the home to measure while the home inspector was there.  After a long conversation and calming, my sellers down the buyer got in and we're still on track to close next week.

Debbie and John McCormack it does happen, sellers take a stand for no apparent reason. If the buyers request is reasonable,l i tell them what would you want when you go to buy and want to get in to the house you are buying?

While it is exciting to know you are going to be the next owner of the home, it is a must to be cosiderate to the sellers who have entered into a contract with you.

Some buyers start to think of the home as "theirs" before the ink is dry on the closing docs...occasionally we need to remind me the sellers do still live there and deserve their consideration.  Another excellent post in the series.

Hi Scott - That's a frequently asked question by most first-time homebuyers, and we rarely have problems when the request is a reasonable one.

We are working with a buyer now who first asked to measure for her furniture, then her parents wanted to see it while they were in town, then she wanted the installer who she bought a new shower door from go back to re-measure, and now she wants to go back and take some pictures...No!

It happens often Susan Haughton and why i like to address it early on so it does not happen.

Dick Greenberg I find it similar when i discuss it early so we make one request and not several. I also discuss with my sellers early on that the buyer may ask.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Call 631-805-4400 (c) I have a buyer buying one of my listings now that is doing this every other day. Her agent did not discuss this and had her call me to ask for the sellers number to just stop by every once and a while, the answer was quickly no.

That is excellent advice about trying to not bother the seller too much.

I once had a buyer, who would come up with every excuse to revisit the house while we were in escrow.  Mr. Seller had a heart condition, and I could tell it was becoming an issue.  Finally, when my buyer called to say her little girl's hamster had died, and she didn't want to bury it in the yard of their rental home, I stopped her short.  I said, here's what you do.  Take that hamster and put him in a ziplock baggy, and then toss him in the freezer until we close escrow!
