Words of inspiration often help us through the day. Winston Churchill with his never, ever give in, or Mark Twain with his wise words that travel is fatal to prejudice and bigotry. There are so many wonderful quotes from so many insightful individuals that I've known and loved since I was a young girl and reading was my first love.
My favorite quotes however come from someone that I learned about much later in my life, when I moved here to the U.S. Maya Angelou was a very special woman whose immense wisdom was unparalleled. It's hard to choose one quote from her to make my point here today, but I think the one that probably comes to mind more often than any other for me is "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."
I've found this quote from Maya Angelou to be a game changer for me. I no longer hold onto anger or waste time with "what ifs." This is actually very handy, not only in private life, but also in the world of real estate. At times when I want something to be different to the way it is, I ask myself if I have the power to change it, or whether I need to adjust my attitude to it. For me this quote is a great guide to self-awareness.
Fall is on its way here in Iowa and it seemed appropriate to share a picture that illustrates how nature adapts to change. Nature doesn't fight the changing seasons. It adapts to it and comes out stronger on the other side. "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."
