Rabbit and the Deer Control ~ Organically

My neighborhood here in Clarksville,TN, was not so long ago home to deer, rabbits and other wildlife animals.   I am sad that we have taken over their homes.  With the Real Estate Market so healthy here in Clarksville, more and more subdivisions are being built and thus we are providing less green space for the animals.  One of the first things that I noticed when I moved to Tennessee last year was the abundance of deer.  They are everywhere and it's not unusual to see them crossing the street ahead of you, or relaxing in your backyard.  But, now I'm ready to do some planting of flowers and vegetables and I want to keep the critters away!  Here is some information on a product that I will be using in the yard.

Do you enjoy watching wildlife such as rabbits and deer in your yard?  Perhaps you just don't like them munching on the flowers and shrubs you work so hard to maintain? If you want to rid your yard of furry friends without causing them harm, there are solutions that are effective and environmentally friendly.

"As cities continue to grow, wildlife interaction will inevitably increase. People are building houses where animals live and they have nowhere else to migrate to," says Karolyn Warfel at Woodstream Corp., manufacturer of Havahart, a line of caring control products for pets and wildlife. "With an estimated 85 million U.S. households participating in gardening, there is a tremendous need to harmoniously coexist with our wild neighbors."

In the world of pesticides and repellents the words "organic" and "natural" are often mistakenly used to replace one another. To be "organic," a pesticide or repellent has to be certified "organic." No such certification exists for a product to be "natural" or even "all-natural."

When a manufacturer freely uses the terms "organic" and "natural," you can easily be misled into thinking that you are buying an organic product. To help alleviate this concern, you should look for certified organic products that have gone through a battery of tests from the USDA NOP (National Organics Program) or other independent organizations such as OMRI (Organic Material Review Institute), a leading review of organic material.

DeFence by Havahart is a certified organic product that is effective for repelling rabbits and deer from your yard and garden without causing harm to the animal.

Studies show that rabbits and deer have a much keener sense of smell than humans -- anywhere from 10 to 1,000 times stronger. DeFence by Havahart is the most powerful rabbit and deer odor deterrent on the market. Formulated with the highest level of active odor deterring ingredient - up to 3 times more than other products -- it provides powerful protection for your landscaping. It deters rabbits and deer, but does not have an unpleasant smell for humans.

We have the same problem in certain parts of Austin. Another great idea is to put in plants that deer won't eat. That'll keep em awy as well..
