*18 million pounds of trash was collected by almost 800,000 volunteers in the 2015 Cleanup
*Millions of plastic straws are littering our beaches and killing the wildlife. ‘
*The #1 trash item collected? Cigarette butts- over 2 million
*The cleanup covered more than 25,000 miles
I have seen food wrappers, cigarette butts, liquor bottles, and things that are too disgusting to mention on our beaches. This is so unnecessary… Delray has trash containers along the beach walkways and along the sidewalks. You wouldn’t have to walk more than twenty feet to throw something away.
Another way to help…
You can go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and download the Clean Swell App. As you enjoy your beaches or beaches elsewhere, download the app and log in to record the trash you find.
Please join in keeping our beaches clean.
