Many times I see new bloggers not adding photos or if they do figure out how to add it's not sized or oriented to wrap the copy. There are even times when folks get those steps right, but fail to leave a margin between the copy and the photo.
This is a simple steps to show you how to size and orient a photo.
Step one... the upload.
You click on the photo icon from your page. That takes you to a screen where you can upload photos from your computer. Click on the upload button, select and there you have photos and you can add them to a post.
Once you have added the photos you will want to size them. I chose 640 for the width of the photo above. For me personally if I'm adding a landscape photo I use a width of 400 and let the height automatically adjust for the photo. If I am using a portrait view of a photo I use 300. But it depends on how much copy, the size of your font and your own personal tastes, but I I use 400 and the depth generally adjusts to somewhere near 300.
Next, you'll want to orient your photo. If you want a photo centered as I have the first one above you should choose center, but if you want to wrap copy you'll have a choice of left or right. Then of course to keep the copy from being smashed next to the photo cause it to be difficult to read add some margin space. I pick 7, but I know some folks put at much as 15. Anything in between those two should keep the photo from looking all smashed into the copy. Less than 7 and it gets a smidgen close for a good look.
I also suggest the stagger, some photos left and some to the right when posting a blog with multiple photos. People tend to be willing to read a longer post (like the gurus tell us Google is looking for) if it's not just a wall of words and it's broken up with a couple of photos.
If you have problems with loading, sizing or orienting your photos feel free to reach out by email or phone and I'll try to help you out. But adding photos makes your post more appealing and easier to read.
