After a busy morning, our team was evaluating where we were on our monthly sales goals. Then an acquaintance called and asked for real estate advice and information. Something we are happy to give when a consumer is not already in a current contractual relationship with a Realtor (or agent) as a buyer representative or with a listing agreement. Over the years I have received lots of these calls. And because we believe in and adhere to the Realtors Code of Ethics we can not and will not insert ourselves into those consumer's situation(s). Certainly we are sorry to disappoint a consumer, however, when they chose their agent perhaps they should have examined that agent's knowledge, experience, expertise and Realtor designations to determine how effective that agent would be when representing them and their fiduciary interests. If a consumer is not satisfied with the performance of their agent I might suggest as potential remedies that the consumer call the agent's broker, or the local Association of Realtors or the state association of Realtors or the state real estate commission and ask for guidance or assistance? Of course I am not able to offer a guaranty of a satisfactory resolution. But if the consumer had chosen wisely in the beginning perhaps they would not have problems or issues?
