Speechless Sunday FDR’s Home in the Hyde Park

Oh my gosh... I remember going there as a Girl Scout in the 1950's... don't think I've been back since. A gorgeous setting for this home.

Visiting their home and pPresiential library ws a traet. FDR is one of my favorite presidents.

Yolanda loved visiting this home as well as the one he had in Georgia, and they do not build them like they used to....Endre

What a beautiful setting;  I can imagine that was quite an interesting home to visit. 

Yolanda, there is a section in The Boys in the Boat, about the scrappy kids from Washington State who grew up win the gold at the 1936 Olympics in rowing. They were in Paughkipsee after winning the race before the big race, and they decided on an afternoon off to go to Hyde Park to see if the President was home.  No Secret Service or anything.  They knocked on the door, and Roosevelt's son answered. The president wasn't home, but the guys were still invited in and given the royal treatment.  And it looked just like your picture!

Hi Yolanda.  I've been there many, many years ago and remember it fondly.

Yolanda, I hope you are having a good day off. You may have to investigate 24 Hour Fitness by lakes of Terra Bella. 

I watched a documentary about FDR the other evening.  I hadn't realized that he had actually passed away in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with is longtime lover, Lucy Mercer at his side.  Roosevelt's daughter had actually arranged it.  And, because of it, Eleanor (FDR's wife), was furious with her for quite some time.

Yolanda, I hope you are having an excellent day off and working out  can be increased as you feel you are able to do it.
