Success at Any Age as a REALTOR®..You Don’t Have to Be Under 30 To Make Your Dreams Come True!

Have you seen the latest article on 50 Plus 50 Entrepreneurs? How about real estate agents who became successful after 40 something? Probably not as those lists do not exist.
Why not?

FORBES recognizes young entrepreneurs, 30 Under 30, REALTOR® Magazine launched Young Professionals Network(YPN) several years ago and many local and state REALTOR® associations now have adopted the program.

There are many statistics regarding the age of an average real estate agent and from what I have found online, that number is in the mid 50’s. So how are encouraging, promoting and empowering this group of real estate agents?

Some have been in the business for many years and trying very hard to keep up with all the changes, learning new systems, loving or hating social media which is crucial in today’s world of connecting. Some already gave up and moved on to other areas. Some are looking to get back in the race while others are in the process of getting their real estate licenses.
If you fit into any of the above categories, take a deep breath and know that you can turn it all around and be successful. Success at any age is possible, others have done it, so can you! BELIEVE..

How do you do it?

First thing is to make up your mind. Once you make a commitment to make it, you have to learn about YOU..
-Who are you?
-What motivates you?
-What does your dream day look like?
-How do you communicate with others?
-What’s holding you back?

Answer these questions honestly. For me, the most important one would be;

 

WHAT’S HOLDING ME BACK? See, we all have insecurities, recognizing them is half the battle. Once you recognize what they are, it’s easy to work on them. If fear of rejection is one, admit it and find ways to overcome it. Once you get to the core of that insecurity and admit it to yourself, healing will begin.
Know your heart...know your insecurities.

Next, have a plan of action, have written goals with timelines. There’s nothing wrong with having big goals but know, you have to work to achieve them.

It’s probably harder to change certain behaviors later on in life. In our 20’s or 30’s, we are more open to taking risks and jump with open arms, not so much in our 40’s and 50’s. If we’re not ready to take risks which can be investing money, new methods of lead generation, hiring a coach, learning how to make videos, being present on social media, then, we are truly blocking our own success.

FORBES magazine, REALTOR® Magazine, your local news or even your Broker may not recognize you..so what!! Start your own cheerleading group..Celebrate your success by taking that dream vacation or owning that car that costs  $$$$$$$$.

Lastly, do not listen to naysayers..trust me, there will be some and don’t be afraid to try new things.

I do have one question for you, who is that one REALTOR® you would love to spend the day with and learn from them? They don’t have to be 30 something, they could be in their 40’s, 50’s 60’s but they must be in the US. Once you answer that question, make a list of the reasons WHY you would like to shadow this person. Keep that list with you at all times, post it on your vision-board, in your wallet, wall but be sure to read it every day. Those are the things that are going to take you to the next level. You just have to find ways to make them happen.
