Inspired by Flowers

 

Takoma, Washington blogger Paul S. Henderson is sponsoring a September contest for ActiveRain members. "I want to hear what inspires you". And, he has asked us to provide an inspiring quote. Since I am inspired by flowers, I thought a quote by Georgia O'Keeffe would be appropriate.

 

"When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not." - Georgia O'Keeffe

 

I like to take photowalks in our home community and in public gardens. When you focus your attention and your camera on a beautiful flower or plant, it is easy to set aside the problems of the moment. So, you actually experience a bit of mental therapy without having to take the time or bear the expense of  meeting with a professional.

Give it a try to see if this works for you. All you need is your walking shoes, a pathway and your camera in hand. If you do not have any flowers to photograph, you can accomplish your goals by seeking the colors of autumn in your home community or during your travels. Allow yourself to be inspired by flowers. Nature has good messages for you.

Hello Roy -- what a perfect post entry for the contest sponsored by Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington .   When I see your name, my mind always goes to "take your camera in hand".   Your photowalks and many photos of so many different subjects but especially flowers are always well-presented.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I just returned from a long photowalk through Kentlands. The end of the season is near for most of the flowers. Our dahlias are still blooming and are providing flowers to cut every day for our home. The first frost in October will officially end the season.

That is a contest I would like.  You know, Roy Kelley, I am closing the office and for my last act of the day, I knew I wanted to go to a site and find a  'flower.'  And so I went to you and the rest is history.  Hahahaha ~ You did not disappoint me.
